-Our first stop tonight is Cambridge

-which is currently home...

-..to the international rugby star,

-Jamie Roberts.

-Jamie is a doctor

-and is studying at the college...

-..before joining the

-Harlequins rugby team in London.

-Rhodri Gomer met him on the eve

-of the renowned Varsity match...

-..between Cambridge

-and Oxford University.

-Queen's College dates back

-to the mid 15th century...

-..and boasts alumni such as

-Sir Isaac Newton and Stephen Fry.

-It's the college that Jamie Roberts

-calls home for his first term.

-History and tradition were important

-in his decision to come here.

-You've been at Queen's College for

-three weeks so are you settling in?

-Yes, I'm only here for the first

-term to play the Varsity Match...

-..before I return to my professional

-career with the Harlequins.

-After that, I'll travel here

-for one day a week.

-It was my dream to study

-at either Cambridge or Oxford.

-I couldn't do it as an undergraduate

-after leaving school in Cardiff...

-..because my rugby career was going

-so well.

-Playing in the Varsity Match

-is something very special.

-It's something I've wanted to add

-to my CV for the last few years.

-The last time the light blues

-beat the dark blues was in 2009...

-..when Cambridge won

-with 39 points to 17.

-Oxford has won the last five games

-since that time.

-No team in the history of the

-Varsity from 1872 onwards...

-..has won six consecutive matches

-so this game is a pressure pot!

-The other team isn't called Oxford

-but "the other place!"

-It's another tradition.

-I'm aware that Cambridge

-has lost the last five games.

-I came here instead of Oxford

-because I wanted to win this game.

-The lads are fantastic

-and hard-working.

-All respect to Jamie.

-He rocked up and established himself

-in the group...

-..and made sure

-he was part of the team.

-He didn't care about the name,

-Jamie Roberts.

-He wanted to be part of this

-and embraced it which is fantastic.

-Even in the professional era,

-many international players...

-..have represented Oxford

-and Cambridge in the Varsity Match.

-Anton Oliver and Joe Roff joined

-at the end of their careers...

-..but Jamie is 28 and in his prime

-so expectations are high.

-We need to remember

-the amateur game.

-I was able to go back in the middle

-of my career as opposed to the end.

-I hope to be two thirds of the way

-into my career...

-..and wanted to play an amateur game

-that has a history.

-I've got a few games with Cambridge
