-I visited a special observatory

-at the Felin Uchaf Centre.

-It's unlikely that we'll have a

-clear sky for the Winter Solstice...

-..but few people

-build their own observatory...

-..and you're the only man

-I know who would do it!

-It's a real masterpiece.

-I built it with young volunteers

-who helped me over the year.

-This place celebrates the link

-with the rhythm of the seasons...

-..planting, harvesting

-and the universe.

-There's no better way to do that

-than with a framework of oak...

-..that features carvings of the

-planets and signs of the Zodiac...

-..and the plants

-that we grow on the farm.

-The crowning glory of the

-observatory is the stained glass...

-..that tell the story

-of the planets.

-They go from the planets closest

-to the sun with Mercury and Venus...

-..all the way to Neptune and Pluto

-that are cold and far from the sun.

-A young lady from France

-called Alyona Tolstikova...

-..is responsible for the artwork

-I got to abseil

-down Caernarfon Castle.

-Not many people can say that!

-I had no ides

-what he was doing each day.

-The smile as he came home each day

-told me he was enjoying it.

-I've competed at the Eisteddfod

-for many years.

-I took part in the show, Gwydion

-which was incredible.

-We had a fantastic cast.

-It was superb to be part of it.

-Derek Williams was my uncle

-and he set up the company...

-..that had worked on the show.

-We miss him very much.

-His children are following

-in his footsteps.

-My aunt did the family tree

-a couple of months ago...

-..and discovered that the family's

-musical roots go back a long way.

-What's your plan as a duo?

-The aim of this duo is to bring you

-We will be launching an album soon.

-I chose 40 places that I enjoy.

-that have influenced me most.

-I could have included...

-..so I had to pick my own top 40.

-There are quite a few

-in North Wales.

-It does go down to Pembrokeshire

-and along the south coast.

-There is somewhere

-that's close for everyone.

-It's meant to give people

-a taster of these places.

-There are fantastic photographs.

-I didn't take them by the way!

-There's information about wildlife,

-the flora and accessibility.

-There's even information about

-where you can find a good cafe...

-..or tea shop.

-I'll be at home

-On 4 January, I'm off to the

-Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

-We're filming a programme there

-about the damage being done...

-..to the reef by global warming.

-That area of Australia will be

-affected if the reef is destroyed.

-I'm looking forward to going

-but the subject saddens me.

-It's been such a mild winter.

-I've been out in shorts in December.

-That does affect what birds

-we see in the garden.

-There's plenty of food about

-for the birds at the moment.

-Once that changes or we have a

-storm, they'll need us to feed them.

-There's a new series starting soon

-about four parks around Wales.
