I'm Ricky. I live in Bristol.

0:00:030:00:05

By day, I work as an animator,

0:00:050:00:08

which is lucky, because I love art.

0:00:080:00:10

I live for art. I even dream of art!

0:00:100:00:13

I draw.

0:00:130:00:15

I paint.

0:00:150:00:18

I make things.

0:00:180:00:21

I hang out with my mates -

0:00:210:00:22

-Gavin, Michelle and Sarah.

-SARAH SCREAMS

0:00:220:00:26

Most importantly, I make ninja moves.

0:00:260:00:29

Some people call me the...

0:00:290:00:31

Art Ninja.

0:00:310:00:34

Today, I'll show you how to make a new furry friend

0:00:340:00:37

in the shape of a goblin puppet,

0:00:370:00:40

some handy tips for a Jackson Pollock-inspired bookend,

0:00:400:00:44

and it's time to box clever with a giant wall of jungle graffiti,

0:00:440:00:48

-because today it's...

-GONG CRASHES

0:00:480:00:51

ALARM BEEPS

0:00:540:00:57

It's a new day.

0:01:000:01:02

Time to get my ninja on.

0:01:020:01:04

And my clothes.

0:01:060:01:08

Today, I'm feeling very friendly.

0:01:290:01:32

I'm going to invite my art buddies over.

0:01:320:01:35

I know, I'll give Sarah a call.

0:01:350:01:37

Sorry, I'm a bit busy today, Ricky. What about Andre?

0:01:370:01:40

-PHONE BEEPS

-Hey, that's him now.

0:01:400:01:43

Oh. He's off doing ollies in Holland.

0:01:430:01:46

I can always try my dad - I'll give him a call.

0:01:460:01:48

DIAL TONES

0:01:480:01:49

Hey, Dad.

0:01:490:01:51

I was wondering if you...

0:01:510:01:53

OK, bye.

0:01:530:01:55

I'm starting to feel really alone today. There's no-one around.

0:01:550:01:58

WISTFUL VIOLIN MUSIC PLAYS

0:01:580:02:01

Gav, can you cut that out please?

0:02:010:02:03

Go and practise somewhere else.

0:02:030:02:04

I thought you were lonely?

0:02:040:02:06

I'm not THAT lonely.

0:02:080:02:10

I'll go and riff somewhere else, then.

0:02:100:02:12

Gav's great, but not when he's practising.

0:02:130:02:16

I'm going to make a less noisy, more cuddly companion -

0:02:160:02:19

a goblin puppet.

0:02:190:02:20

The art ninja goblin puppet -

0:02:200:02:22

a companion that's furry good.

0:02:220:02:25

So, I've got myself some sponges

0:02:250:02:28

and I'm going to cut this big one here

0:02:280:02:30

just along where the curve meets the straight line.

0:02:300:02:32

'This is for his head and jaw.'

0:02:320:02:35

And these other ones, just normal washing up sponges.

0:02:350:02:37

Where these two grooves are, cut along there.

0:02:370:02:40

And I'm going to cut along this strip here,

0:02:410:02:44

and then cut them in half.

0:02:440:02:45

And these are going to make the eyebrows of my goblin.

0:02:450:02:48

Start cutting some triangles into that bit that's left.

0:02:480:02:52

'Take care with sharp scissors.'

0:02:520:02:54

These two, with the line across the tip, are going to be the ears.

0:02:540:02:57

And this one here, with the overhang, is going to be the nose.

0:02:570:03:01

'These pieces will be the goblins horns.'

0:03:010:03:04

I want the horns to have a bit of texture, a bit of twist,

0:03:040:03:06

so I'm going to use a bit of string, tie a knot around the top,

0:03:060:03:10

and then I'm just going to wrap it around.

0:03:100:03:12

Snip off the excess

0:03:130:03:15

and I'm going to stick it in place with some strong glue.

0:03:150:03:18

And we do the same with the other one

0:03:180:03:19

to create that twisted horn texture.

0:03:190:03:22

Now, I'm going to glue on all the little bits I've just cut out,

0:03:230:03:27

starting with the nose.

0:03:270:03:28

'You can cut out any shapes you like to customise your goblin.'

0:03:280:03:32

The ears on, the horns on.

0:03:320:03:34

If they don't stick right away,

0:03:340:03:36

just hold them in place for a few seconds.

0:03:360:03:38

Now, onto the eyebrows.

0:03:380:03:40

So, now you need to decide is he going to be a happy goblin,

0:03:400:03:42

by maybe having them up like this?

0:03:420:03:45

Or maybe a more mean and nasty goblin,

0:03:450:03:48

and having them down like that?

0:03:480:03:49

I'm trying to make a friend, so I'm going to make mine nice and happy.

0:03:490:03:53

Looking good so far.

0:03:550:03:57

Now I'm going to paint him a nice goblin green.

0:03:570:04:00

'When painting sponges, you'll need loads of paint,

0:04:000:04:03

'because they're really absorbent.'

0:04:030:04:05

And dabbing seems to work better than a long brush stroke.

0:04:050:04:08

'Don't forget to put some paper down if you're doing this at home.'

0:04:080:04:11

I'm going to do the horns yellow.

0:04:120:04:14

Right, I'm just going to put that to one side to dry,

0:04:160:04:18

while I draw the inside of a goblin mouth.

0:04:180:04:20

To paint the mouth, add white to the colours

0:04:220:04:24

to make them a little bit lighter.

0:04:240:04:26

I think the tongue should have some nice yellow spots on it.

0:04:290:04:31

And now a nice green goblin tongue.

0:04:320:04:34

There we go, I'm going to paint all around the outside

0:04:370:04:39

and this little space here black.

0:04:390:04:41

Right, if you're doing this at home, you'll need to wait for that to dry.

0:04:430:04:46

But I wait for nothing, because I'm the Art Ninja.

0:04:460:04:48

There we go, nice and dry.

0:04:480:04:50

'Using black pen, add an outline to your mouth

0:04:500:04:53

'to make the colours pop out.'

0:04:530:04:54

'This card is your puppet's mouth

0:04:580:05:00

'and you'll operate this to make him speak.'

0:05:000:05:02

We're going to glue this on the inside of the sponges here,

0:05:040:05:08

making sure the tongue is at the bottom.

0:05:080:05:10

Fold it like that and we're going to put glue on this side, as well.

0:05:100:05:13

Can you see how the mouth is going to open and close now?

0:05:160:05:19

To give you more control, put a cardboard strip over the back,

0:05:190:05:22

so that when you open your hand, the top of the mouth comes with it.

0:05:220:05:25

'Attach it securely with sticky tape.'

0:05:250:05:27

But, right now, he can't see,

0:05:310:05:34

so I'm going to add some eyes using a ping pong ball.

0:05:340:05:37

Now you need to cut it in half and that can be quite tricky,

0:05:370:05:40

so get an adult to help you.

0:05:400:05:42

I don't need any help, I'm a ninja.

0:05:420:05:44

Now I'm just going to draw some nice black pupils.

0:05:450:05:48

'Stick the eyes to the goblin's face, again using some strong glue.'

0:05:490:05:53

Rar, rar, rar.

0:05:530:05:55

Some teeth with some cardboard.

0:05:550:05:56

I cut this already. And I'm going to give him an underbite.

0:05:560:06:01

Nice bit of character.

0:06:010:06:03

But he's a puppet and you can see my hand,

0:06:030:06:05

so I'm going to give him a lovely furry hide.

0:06:050:06:08

And I've got some fun fur here.

0:06:080:06:11

I've cut out these shapes - this nice long strip is for the body

0:06:110:06:14

and this bit is going to go around the head.

0:06:140:06:16

It's easier to put glue onto the sponge than it is to the fur.

0:06:160:06:20

I'm going to push the fur

0:06:200:06:22

on like that.

0:06:220:06:24

Glue these edges along the edge of the cardboard.

0:06:250:06:29

'Holding the fur in place will help it stick.'

0:06:290:06:31

'For the second piece of fur -

0:06:330:06:35

'glue around the back of the goblin's head

0:06:350:06:37

'before gently sticking the fur headpiece to it,

0:06:370:06:39

'and then glue together the body material at the back.'

0:06:400:06:45

And then I'm going to stick the edges here

0:06:450:06:47

to the body material, too.

0:06:470:06:49

I've got some arms here that I've made

0:06:490:06:52

from tubes of the same material and some hands.

0:06:520:06:54

'Simply glue them in place.'

0:06:540:06:56

'And, as a final touch to his chin, paint on some warts.

0:06:580:07:02

'He is a goblin after all!'

0:07:020:07:04

Let's make it so he can control his arms.

0:07:040:07:07

For that, we're going to use two kebab skewers.

0:07:070:07:09

Going to stick one in this arm, one in the other.

0:07:090:07:12

Just push it into the sponge.

0:07:120:07:14

Hello, Ricky.

0:07:190:07:21

What a beautiful goblin puppet.

0:07:210:07:23

I think I'll call him Brian.

0:07:230:07:25

Make yourself comfortable.

0:07:260:07:28

'The goblin puppet.

0:07:280:07:30

'Why don't you bring one to life yourself?'

0:07:300:07:32

BEEP

0:07:330:07:35

Hm. What was that?

0:07:350:07:37

Mm, it's an e-mail titled How To Care For Your Goblin Puppet.

0:07:370:07:41

Bit strange, but I'd better read it.

0:07:410:07:44

'How to care for your goblin puppet.

0:07:440:07:46

'Do NOT get paint on it at any cost.

0:07:460:07:49

'Repeat - once made, do NOT get paint on it.'

0:07:490:07:53

Are you still here?

0:07:530:07:54

Oh, yeah, sorry. Just off out.

0:07:540:07:56

So, I can't get paint on the goblin.

0:07:570:07:59

I wonder why.

0:07:590:08:00

That picture changes every time I look at it.

0:08:010:08:03

'This is Bristol Harbour -

0:08:040:08:06

'an amazing place full of history.

0:08:060:08:09

'Many spectacular sea vessels were built and launched here.

0:08:090:08:12

SHIP HORN BLARES

0:08:120:08:14

'Oh. Excuse me.

0:08:140:08:15

'Hey, here's one now.'

0:08:150:08:17

'Hey, my mistake. It's just an animation.

0:08:190:08:22

'An awesome one.

0:08:220:08:24

'All you need is stiff plastic or acetate,

0:08:240:08:26

'some pens that write on acetate

0:08:260:08:28

'and a phone or tablet.

0:08:280:08:30

'Three of me.'

0:08:300:08:32

There's some really good animation apps you can find online -

0:08:320:08:34

have a little look around, find one you like,

0:08:340:08:36

find one that's highly rated and just get used to one

0:08:360:08:39

and make it your thing.

0:08:390:08:40

My phone's really red, so red.

0:08:400:08:42

'Here's how to work it in just three ninja moves.

0:08:420:08:46

'Ninja move number one -'

0:08:460:08:47

draw your frames on the acetate.

0:08:470:08:49

So, I'm doing a submarine.

0:08:490:08:52

Look over at the background,

0:08:520:08:54

just so you can line up where your object's going to appear.

0:08:540:08:57

And then a good thing to do is to colour it in in white,

0:08:570:09:00

because then it's opaque and really sticks up against the background.

0:09:000:09:04

'Ninja move number two -'

0:09:040:09:05

I've got lots of pieces of acetate.

0:09:050:09:07

Now, I'm not going to use a different piece of acetate

0:09:070:09:10

for every picture, but I am going to use two separate ones.

0:09:100:09:13

The reason we use a couple of bits is so you can use your old frame

0:09:130:09:15

as a guide to start drawing the next one.

0:09:150:09:18

# Pens, pens, pens Drawing on stuff with pens. #

0:09:180:09:22

There we go. So, you can see the one from before.

0:09:220:09:24

'Ninja move number three -'

0:09:260:09:28

Get your phone out, line it up with the river

0:09:280:09:30

or whatever you're using for it to interact with and take a snap.

0:09:300:09:34

'Keep doing your ninja steps.

0:09:340:09:36

'So, draw the frame of your animation on the acetate,

0:09:360:09:38

'take a picture,

0:09:380:09:39

'trace your next frame using the old one as a guide,

0:09:390:09:41

'take another picture,

0:09:410:09:43

'and repeat.

0:09:430:09:45

'Keep doing your ninja steps

0:09:450:09:46

'until all the frames of your animation are done.'

0:09:460:09:48

Once you've taken all your frames, using your animation app,

0:09:500:09:53

compile them into a movie.

0:09:530:09:56

Compiling.

0:09:560:09:57

Now I think it's time for the big reveal.

0:09:570:09:59

Here comes the submarine.

0:10:010:10:02

Here we go. It's made berth at Bristol Harbour.

0:10:020:10:05

Hang on, what's this? Oh, a sea monster!

0:10:050:10:08

I'd say that is a mini masterpiece.

0:10:130:10:16

Have a go yourself.

0:10:170:10:19

Get outside and see what you can do

0:10:190:10:20

with your awesome acetate animation.

0:10:200:10:23

Sometimes I do art so good,

0:10:280:10:30

I have to give myself a round of applause.

0:10:300:10:33

PHONE RINGS

0:10:330:10:36

MESSAGE TONE BLEEPS PHONE: Hi, Ricky, it's Mum.

0:10:360:10:40

Hope you're not showing off again.

0:10:400:10:42

Just phoning to say don't forget to mention what's coming up.

0:10:420:10:45

You get handy with the paintbrush.

0:10:450:10:48

Be careful not to get globules on the goblin.

0:10:480:10:51

Learn how to turn mops into flip-flops.

0:10:510:10:53

And box cleaver with gigantic graffiti

0:10:530:10:56

that gives a new meaning to guerrilla art.

0:10:560:10:58

Also, I wanted to say, your dad's trying to fix the toilet,

0:10:580:11:01

but it's sending him round the bend.

0:11:010:11:03

Anyway, bye. MESSAGE TONE BLEEPS

0:11:030:11:06

I bet he wishes someone would give him a hand.

0:11:060:11:08

With a rubber glove on it.

0:11:080:11:11

This gives me an idea.

0:11:110:11:13

I'm going to make some bookends made with rubber gloves

0:11:130:11:15

and decorated in the style of famous artist Jackson Pollock.

0:11:150:11:18

'Here's a Jackson Pollock picture now.

0:11:180:11:21

'He fixed his canvas to the floor or wall and, using a paintbrush,

0:11:210:11:24

'he threw lines of paint on it.

0:11:240:11:25

'This became known as action painting.'

0:11:250:11:28

So, first, I'm going to make my canvas,

0:11:280:11:30

and, in this case, that is a cast of a rubber glove.

0:11:300:11:33

So, I'm going to start by drawing around a bowl

0:11:330:11:35

on this piece of cardboard.

0:11:350:11:37

You can use a mug, it's about the same size.

0:11:370:11:39

Now I'm going to cut that out.

0:11:410:11:42

To get my scissors in there, I'm going to make a hole first.

0:11:420:11:45

'I'm using sticky tack underneath the card

0:11:450:11:47

'to help push the pencil through. It makes it easier to cut out.'

0:11:470:11:51

A nice big bucket, cardboard on top.

0:11:570:12:00

And now here's the tricky bit.

0:12:000:12:02

'I'm going to hang an old rubber glove through the hole.'

0:12:020:12:04

And I'm going to attach it to the edge of this circle

0:12:040:12:07

with some sticky tape.

0:12:070:12:08

When I say some, I mean a lot,

0:12:080:12:10

because this going to have to hold some weight.

0:12:100:12:13

'As this is quite fiddly, you might need some help.

0:12:130:12:16

'And I recommend working around one bit at a time.'

0:12:160:12:19

'Rubber gloves tend to be powdery on the inside,

0:12:200:12:23

'so wash them out first and it will help the tape stick.'

0:12:230:12:26

Right, that's looking good.

0:12:270:12:28

Now, I need to mix up some plaster of Paris.

0:12:280:12:31

You'll need to follow the instructions

0:12:310:12:32

on your plaster of Paris packet,

0:12:320:12:34

but, as a guide, it's twice as much plaster to water

0:12:340:12:38

and you always add the power to the water.

0:12:380:12:41

Might be good to stick on an apron,

0:12:410:12:42

because it does tend to go everywhere.

0:12:420:12:45

Make sure you've stirred in all of the lumps.

0:12:450:12:47

It's starting to thicken now.

0:12:470:12:49

'Keep stirring until it is smooth and pourable.'

0:12:490:12:52

And, when it's at that stage, you need to act pretty fast,

0:12:520:12:55

because it starts to harden.

0:12:550:12:57

Make sure all of it's in,

0:13:020:13:03

and I've left a little bit of room at the top, as it expands.

0:13:030:13:06

And flick the fingers to make sure all the bubbles are released,

0:13:060:13:10

and this means you have a nice, solid, strong cast.

0:13:100:13:14

If you're doing this at home, you'll need to wait for it to harden,

0:13:140:13:16

but not me, I'm the Art Ninja.

0:13:160:13:19

Nice and hard.

0:13:210:13:23

'Remove the sticky tape to release the cast from the cardboard.'

0:13:230:13:27

There we go.

0:13:270:13:28

Now I need to carefully cut down the back of the glove

0:13:280:13:30

to help get my cast out,

0:13:300:13:32

because just pulling is likely to break it.

0:13:320:13:34

Ay!

0:13:380:13:40

Now I need to decorate it, so I need to get some action painting in.

0:13:400:13:43

Now I'm going to flick it just like Jackson Pollock.

0:13:480:13:51

Start with some yellow.

0:13:510:13:52

If you're doing this at home...

0:14:100:14:12

'You better put lots of paper down.'

0:14:120:14:14

'Oh, it's Jackson Pollock!'

0:14:150:14:16

You're doing it all wrong.

0:14:160:14:18

When I did my action painting,

0:14:180:14:20

I used to dance over the canvas,

0:14:200:14:22

dripping and dribbling paint as I went.

0:14:220:14:25

Go on, you should do it properly!

0:14:250:14:27

I'll give it a go!

0:14:270:14:28

That's more like it!

0:14:320:14:34

I'll try a few ninja moves.

0:14:360:14:38

SINISTER STRING MUSIC PLAYS

0:14:420:14:45

Look at that!

0:14:490:14:51

'You don't have to paint your bookend in the style of Pollock.'

0:14:530:14:55

Here's another handy design.

0:14:550:14:57

Oh, no, I've got paint everywhere.

0:15:000:15:03

I've even got some on the goblin.

0:15:030:15:05

I'm sure I remember something about not getting paint on it

0:15:050:15:08

once it's made.

0:15:080:15:10

'How to care for your goblin puppet.

0:15:100:15:12

'Most importantly, do not get paint on it at any cost.

0:15:120:15:17

'Repeat - once made, do not get paint on it.'

0:15:170:15:20

Yeah, that's right.

0:15:200:15:22

-Thanks.

-'You're welcome.'

0:15:220:15:24

Well, it's only a little bit of paint.

0:15:250:15:28

What's the worst that could happen?

0:15:280:15:30

-ALL:

-Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:15:380:15:40

Huh, friends are like buses,

0:15:400:15:42

you want one and then three come along at once.

0:15:420:15:44

What can you make with these old library cards?

0:15:440:15:48

Mmm... Not today.

0:15:480:15:50

Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:15:510:15:54

I think I'm going to pick you.

0:15:540:15:55

Yay!

0:15:550:15:56

So, what are your names, then?

0:15:560:15:58

-I'm Bronny.

-And I'm Flo.

0:15:580:16:00

-BOTH:

-We're twins.

0:16:000:16:01

You don't say. So, where are you from?

0:16:010:16:04

Brighton.

0:16:040:16:05

Oh, lovely. I love Brighton.

0:16:050:16:06

And what have you got for me to do art with today?

0:16:060:16:08

Can you make a picture with chalk?

0:16:080:16:11

Chalk? Hah. I love chalk.

0:16:110:16:14

You can use chalk to do all sorts.

0:16:140:16:16

I'm going to use mine to make some sand.

0:16:160:16:19

In fact, I'm going to make a desert island picture.

0:16:190:16:22

Need to get some paper.

0:16:220:16:24

There we go, nice bit of blue paper.

0:16:240:16:26

And I'm going to start by drawing a horizon line,

0:16:260:16:29

and that's going to go right through the middle of the page here.

0:16:290:16:32

A nice blue, because that's going to be the ocean.

0:16:320:16:35

'A good technique is to use the side of the chalk to fill it in.'

0:16:350:16:38

Do it like that.

0:16:390:16:41

Maybe really thick at the top

0:16:410:16:42

and then looser down the page.

0:16:420:16:45

Going to smudge that a bit. 'With my finger.'

0:16:450:16:47

Chalk is really good for smudging.

0:16:470:16:49

Get it all over the place.

0:16:490:16:51

And now I'm going to add a bit of yellow down here for the sand.

0:16:510:16:54

'I'm showing you my version of a chalk picture

0:16:540:16:56

'but you can always come up with your own.'

0:16:560:16:58

I'm going to do some clouds up here.

0:16:580:17:00

What kind of things do you think you find on a desert island beach?

0:17:020:17:05

-BOTH:

-Erm...

0:17:050:17:07

Palm trees.

0:17:070:17:09

That's right, palm trees.

0:17:090:17:10

MUSIC: Gecko (Overdrive) by Oliver Heldens

0:17:100:17:13

Do you want to have a look how it's looking so far?

0:17:220:17:25

-BOTH:

-Yes, please.

0:17:250:17:26

How do you think it's coming along?

0:17:260:17:28

Oh, that's really cool.

0:17:280:17:30

Ah, you think it's cool now,

0:17:300:17:31

you wait until it's got all the shading on it.

0:17:310:17:33

Add a bit of green.

0:17:330:17:35

Now, I've got trees in the foreground,

0:17:390:17:41

but I haven't got much else going on,

0:17:410:17:43

so I think we're going to put a little island in the distance.

0:17:430:17:46

Pop the sun in now.

0:17:500:17:52

Right, I'm going to add a couple of shadows in.

0:17:550:17:57

But where there's shadows, there's also highlights,

0:18:020:18:05

so I'm going to pop in a little bit of lighter green, too.

0:18:050:18:08

Now, I've got a little bit of a void in the middle here.

0:18:110:18:13

What shall I pop in there?

0:18:130:18:15

-BOTH:

-A boat.

-That's a good idea.

0:18:150:18:17

A little trick here -

0:18:240:18:26

just underneath where our cliffs

0:18:260:18:28

and our boat touch the water,

0:18:280:18:30

I'm going to add a little bit of purple, because it creates the idea

0:18:300:18:32

of, sort of, like, a shadow, sort of, deep water next to it.

0:18:320:18:36

OK, that's coming together.

0:18:370:18:39

I might add just a couple of highlights.

0:18:390:18:41

-I hope you guys like this.

-BOTH:

-We will.

0:18:430:18:46

Right. I reckon it's looking pretty good.

0:18:520:18:54

-Do you guys want to see it?

-Yeah!

0:18:540:18:57

OK, here we go.

0:18:570:18:58

-Wow!

-Oh, it's really good.

-That's so amazing.

0:19:000:19:04

Oh, I'm glad you guys like it.

0:19:040:19:06

How much would you give it out of ten?

0:19:060:19:08

I give it a one.

0:19:080:19:10

-I also give it a one.

-Only two?

0:19:100:19:13

No, we mean 11.

0:19:130:19:16

Oh, wow! That's not even possible.

0:19:160:19:18

Thanks very much, Bronny. Cheers, Flo.

0:19:180:19:20

I'm really happy with my desert island chalk picture.

0:19:200:19:24

Thanks again, have a good day.

0:19:260:19:28

-Thank you.

-Bye.

-Bye, Ricky.

0:19:280:19:29

'Why don't you use chalk to draw a desert island picture

0:19:320:19:35

'or anything else you fancy?'

0:19:350:19:37

Hang on a minute.

0:19:540:19:55

I'm sure I only made one of those.

0:19:570:19:59

'Oh, no, the goblins must have multiplied,

0:19:590:20:02

'because I got paint on them!

0:20:020:20:04

'Well, I guess you could make your goblin in any shape or size.'

0:20:040:20:07

They are cute, though.

0:20:070:20:09

I'd better clean that up.

0:20:090:20:11

I haven't got anything I can use.

0:20:110:20:14

Hey, you there!

0:20:140:20:16

Oh, not him again!

0:20:160:20:18

Too busy to shift stubborn stains?

0:20:180:20:21

Uh, yeah?

0:20:210:20:22

You need flip-flop mop!

0:20:220:20:25

'Here's how you make it -

0:20:260:20:29

'first you need an old flip-flop

0:20:290:20:31

'and a mophead like this.

0:20:310:20:33

'Insert the flip-flop into the mophead.

0:20:350:20:38

'Next, you'll need a needle and thread.

0:20:410:20:44

'Fold the fabric over the flip-flop

0:20:450:20:48

'and sew it into place around the thong part

0:20:480:20:51

'of the aforementioned footwear.'

0:20:510:20:53

'Now repeat the process with the other flip-flop in the pair.

0:20:580:21:02

'You will be the proud owner of...'

0:21:040:21:06

Flip-flop mops.

0:21:060:21:08

Not available in the shops.

0:21:080:21:10

Have to get me a pair of those.

0:21:110:21:13

I may be able to use my feet to clean the floor.

0:21:150:21:17

But let me give you a hand at drawing hands

0:21:170:21:19

with this quick art tip.

0:21:190:21:20

So, I'm going to start by drawing the wrist

0:21:200:21:23

and then I'm going to draw a half circle

0:21:230:21:25

to give me a guide for the palm.

0:21:250:21:26

'I'm going to use pencil as a guide, which I can rub out later.'

0:21:260:21:30

And then, also, I'm going to do a couple of lines here

0:21:300:21:33

to give me a guide for the size of the fingers.

0:21:330:21:35

The largest finger is the middle finger

0:21:350:21:38

and they need to be smaller either side,

0:21:380:21:40

so index and little finger.

0:21:400:21:41

So, I'm going to start drawing the fingers in

0:21:430:21:46

and the middle finger is the longest.

0:21:460:21:48

Gets smaller towards the little finger

0:21:490:21:52

and towards the index finger.

0:21:520:21:54

Now, to draw the thumb, extend out slightly from the palm

0:21:540:21:57

and then up to the base of the four fingers,

0:21:570:21:59

and then curve it back down into the palm.

0:21:590:22:01

OK? I'm just going to draw up the other size of hand here.

0:22:010:22:03

And then at the base of the fingers, just below,

0:22:030:22:05

I'm going to draw a line across, like a crease in the hand.

0:22:050:22:08

Now you know the basics,

0:22:080:22:09

practise drawing hands in different poses.

0:22:090:22:12

'I'm going to draw a hand in profile.'

0:22:120:22:15

Now I'm going to draw a hand pointing.

0:22:150:22:17

There you go.

0:22:210:22:23

A quick art tip.

0:22:230:22:25

'You can draw someone else's hand or pick any you like.'

0:22:320:22:35

Do you ever get the feeling that you're being watched?

0:22:400:22:43

Well, they must be watching me,

0:22:450:22:46

because there's never anything on TV.

0:22:460:22:48

There is now.

0:22:500:22:52

I think I spend too much time on my own.

0:22:520:22:55

I've started seeing things. I need to get out of here.

0:22:550:22:58

Where are my shoes?

0:22:580:22:59

I'm going to have to find these guys a new home before mine is overrun.

0:23:030:23:06

I'm definitely going to need a hand.

0:23:060:23:08

Not that hand!

0:23:080:23:10

I know.

0:23:100:23:12

Rich...

0:23:130:23:15

get Matt. I need your help.

0:23:150:23:17

Ninja skills.

0:23:310:23:32

Hey, fellas, thanks for helping me get rid of these little guys.

0:23:320:23:35

No worries.

0:23:350:23:36

Where are we going to send these little nippers, mate?

0:23:360:23:38

Well, they shouldn't be cooped up in a flat,

0:23:380:23:40

they should be wild, running free.

0:23:400:23:42

We should send them to the jungle.

0:23:420:23:44

Hang on, all these boxes, all this paint,

0:23:440:23:48

and you guys are pretty good at graffiti, right?

0:23:480:23:51

Not too shabby.

0:23:510:23:52

This gives me a great idea -

0:23:520:23:54

let's get our ninja on!

0:23:540:23:55

-ENTHUSIASTIC:

-Art ninja.

0:24:030:24:04

-UNENTHUSIASTIC:

-Art ninja.

0:24:040:24:06

'We're all wearing masks, because spray paint is fumy.'

0:24:120:24:16

So, how do you get into this?

0:24:160:24:17

Because, I guess, you can't go and paint anywhere, can you?

0:24:170:24:20

No. When you're starting off, the best bet is go to a skate park,

0:24:200:24:23

somewhere like that, where you can ask permission.

0:24:230:24:25

Or get your parents to maybe put up some boards in your back garden.

0:24:250:24:28

These separate images may not make much sense right now,

0:24:300:24:33

but when they come together, you'll see something truly spectacular.

0:24:330:24:37

Practice makes perfect. Always sketch.

0:24:390:24:42

So, keep sketch books, keep drawing and drawing every day

0:24:420:24:45

until you develop your style, and then you're ready.

0:24:450:24:48

How many sketch books have you got?

0:24:510:24:53

I'd easily go through three or four a year still.

0:24:530:24:56

Richie, how many sketch books have you got?

0:24:560:24:58

RICHIE MUMBLES

0:24:580:25:00

Wow! That many?

0:25:000:25:01

OK, guys, we've painted all our boxes.

0:25:040:25:06

Now let's put them together, like a giant jigsaw puzzle.

0:25:060:25:09

Let's go!

0:25:090:25:11

All right, let's get this froggy together.

0:25:130:25:15

If you find the back end, you win a prize.

0:25:150:25:18

-Yeah, got it.

-Oh.

0:25:180:25:20

That was a lie about the prize, by the way.

0:25:200:25:22

OK, let's try to get a nice base level going all the way along here.

0:25:220:25:24

I've got my little goblin, safe and sound.

0:25:300:25:32

Whoops!

0:25:340:25:36

There's one in particular we're looking for.

0:25:400:25:43

When you see it, you'll know exactly what it is.

0:25:430:25:46

HE ROARS

0:25:460:25:48

THEY SCREAM

0:25:480:25:49

Guys? Only me.

0:25:490:25:51

'We're making a graffiti puzzle with huge boxes.

0:25:540:25:57

'You could try, using smaller boxes, to make your own puzzle at home.'

0:25:570:26:01

And the final piece of my gargantuan graffiti jigsaw...

0:26:050:26:09

..goes into place.

0:26:100:26:12

'Not only is it some wild art,

0:26:170:26:19

'but all the goblins are safely packed inside the boxes

0:26:190:26:21

'and ready to be sent away to a real jungle.'

0:26:210:26:24

Wow! Jungle really is massive.

0:26:360:26:40

Thanks, man. Cheers.

0:26:400:26:41

And do you know what? If you try hard,

0:26:410:26:44

maybe one day you too could reach art ninja status

0:26:440:26:48

just like me.

0:26:480:26:50

Nice one, Ricky.

0:26:500:26:52

Nice one, Ricky!

0:26:520:26:53

Yeah!

0:26:530:26:55

I think we can safely consider those pesky goblins

0:26:580:27:01

well and truly...

0:27:010:27:02

YAH!

0:27:020:27:04

..dispatched.

0:27:250:27:28

ignore instructions at your peril

0:27:280:27:31

or those weird old goblins might go feral.

0:27:310:27:35
