I'm Ricky, I live in Bristol. By day I work as an animator,

0:00:030:00:07

which is lucky because I love art.

0:00:070:00:10

I live for art, I even dream of art.

0:00:100:00:13

I draw...

0:00:130:00:15

I paint...

0:00:150:00:16

..I make things.

0:00:180:00:19

I hang out with my mates, Gavin, Michelle and Sarah.

0:00:210:00:26

Most importantly, I make ninja moves.

0:00:260:00:29

Some people call me the...

0:00:290:00:31

Art Ninja.

0:00:310:00:34

Today, I'll show you how to make a great cloud hat for wearing

0:00:340:00:38

whatever the weather,

0:00:380:00:39

paint and play with spray

0:00:390:00:42

and I'll be creating unforgettable art

0:00:420:00:44

with a hose because today it's...

0:00:440:00:49

ALARM BEEPS

0:00:530:00:55

It's a new day and it's time to get my ninja on...

0:00:550:00:59

..and my clothes.

0:01:000:01:03

Hiya!

0:01:030:01:04

Oh, what?

0:01:270:01:28

Rain?

0:01:290:01:31

Oh...

0:01:310:01:32

Even my water's cloudy!

0:01:350:01:36

I'd best do some art that I've saved for a rainy day.

0:01:360:01:40

The sun certainly doesn't have his cap on today.

0:01:400:01:42

I think I need to make some headwear that's more weather appropriate.

0:01:420:01:47

The Art Ninja Whatever The Weather Hat -

0:01:470:01:49

even if there's a cold front, you'll keep a warm head.

0:01:490:01:53

So, I've got a nice bit of corrugated cardboard here.

0:01:530:01:56

How big do I need to be?

0:01:560:01:57

OK, about...

0:01:590:02:01

..there, so I'm just going to sticky-tape that together.

0:02:020:02:05

Now because it's corrugated cardboard, it's got all these lines

0:02:050:02:09

that I can make creases along. It gets it much more circular.

0:02:090:02:13

There we are, I'm going to cut some slits into the top, about two

0:02:130:02:17

and a half centimetres deep, all the way around.

0:02:170:02:20

There we are. And then I'm just going to fold these out and these

0:02:230:02:26

are going to create a nice surface area to glue our next section on to.

0:02:260:02:31

Speaking of which, I've got some balloons here

0:02:310:02:34

and I'm going to blow them up into various sizes.

0:02:340:02:36

A little bit smaller.

0:02:390:02:40

I'm using white balloons for a reason,

0:02:400:02:42

as they're going to make up the structure of a cloud.

0:02:420:02:45

Cool, now I'm going to sticky-tape these balloons together.

0:02:470:02:50

I'm going to roll the tape round back on itself.

0:02:500:02:53

I'm going to try and make them form a nice kind of cloud shape.

0:02:530:02:56

Which is easy, because clouds are so random.

0:02:560:03:00

I'm using eight balloons which I'd say

0:03:020:03:04

is the minimum amount for a cloud.

0:03:040:03:06

There we are. That's pretty cloudy already, isn't it?

0:03:060:03:09

Now I need to attach it to my hat.

0:03:090:03:11

The last one.

0:03:140:03:15

There we go, a pretty good start.

0:03:170:03:20

Now I'm going to give it a layer of papier-mache

0:03:200:03:22

and some cotton wool at the same time.

0:03:220:03:25

I've got a bowl here to hold it still

0:03:250:03:27

because otherwise it gets a bit messy.

0:03:270:03:29

So if you're doing this at home,

0:03:290:03:31

I do recommend putting some newspaper down.

0:03:310:03:33

I've got some papier-mache mixture here which is two parts glue

0:03:330:03:35

and one part water.

0:03:350:03:37

I'm just going to start layering it onto the balloons.

0:03:370:03:40

I'm using kitchen towel because it's white and it's quite light

0:03:430:03:46

and we're not going to be painting these balloons,

0:03:460:03:49

so we want it to stay as white as possible.

0:03:490:03:51

You could use tissue or white paper.

0:03:510:03:54

So, on top of all this kitchen towel,

0:03:570:04:00

I'm also going to be putting some cotton wool.

0:04:000:04:03

I'm just going to break it up like this into nice bits.

0:04:030:04:06

OK, it's looking pretty good.

0:04:110:04:13

Now I just need to do the crown part.

0:04:130:04:16

Just go round into the inside as well,

0:04:160:04:19

making it nice and soft for my head.

0:04:190:04:22

And some more cotton wool.

0:04:220:04:24

Looking pretty good, good coverage.

0:04:240:04:26

Now, the next stage is to wait for it to dry

0:04:260:04:29

and I forecast that will take about a second because I'm a ninja.

0:04:290:04:32

Hoi!

0:04:320:04:34

It's dried nice and rigid and it looks like a lovely, fluffy

0:04:340:04:37

white cloud. But we all know weather's a little bit more

0:04:370:04:40

dynamic than that, so I've cut out some weather symbols here

0:04:400:04:43

and I'm going to attach them with Velcro

0:04:430:04:45

which you can get from the supermarket.

0:04:450:04:47

So, I'm going to put a lightning bolt up here...

0:04:470:04:50

..and let's have the other end coming out maybe there.

0:04:520:04:54

And unfortunately it does always rain,

0:04:540:04:57

so let's put a bit of rain down there

0:04:570:04:59

and just for my own sanity, hopefully, the sun will come out.

0:04:590:05:05

There we go, time to try it on.

0:05:050:05:06

Ah, yeah!

0:05:090:05:11

My hair always goes frizzy when it rains.

0:05:190:05:22

The Whatever The Weather Hat.

0:05:220:05:24

Try making it to brighten up a grey day.

0:05:240:05:26

Here's a real quick art tip - how to make a character look soaking wet,

0:05:280:05:32

like I would be if I was outside right now.

0:05:320:05:34

So I'm going to start by drawing my character, a head here,

0:05:340:05:38

put a T-shirt on him.

0:05:380:05:39

A pair of shorts.

0:05:430:05:44

Now, I'm going to make him look really miserable

0:05:500:05:53

because he's soaking wet.

0:05:530:05:55

And on his hair, I'm going to draw a wiggly line to make it

0:05:550:05:57

look like it's all stuck to his head and soaked.

0:05:570:05:59

Above him I'll draw a rain cloud...

0:05:590:06:02

..then some drops of water coming out of it.

0:06:040:06:06

Some of them I'm going to draw closer to him

0:06:080:06:11

to give the impression that he's dripping wet.

0:06:110:06:13

Now I'm going to add some lines to the top of his T-shirt.

0:06:150:06:18

This could be where the water has kind of soaked in

0:06:180:06:21

and then underneath him I'm going to draw a puddle.

0:06:210:06:23

Another couple of lines here because water's quite reflective,

0:06:270:06:31

a few more drops.

0:06:310:06:32

There we go.

0:06:340:06:36

A quick art tip.

0:06:380:06:39

Don't be wet, have a go at it yourself.

0:06:400:06:43

Oh, that reminds me - I need to water the tufty heads.

0:06:460:06:50

Art Ninja!

0:06:500:06:51

There you are, my tufty heads.

0:06:530:06:56

I remember when these guys were just knee-high to a grasshopper.

0:06:560:06:59

Do you know what? I'll show you how to make your own.

0:06:590:07:01

I think I've got everything I need - I've got my soil, grass seeds,

0:07:040:07:08

yogurt pot and tights and some water.

0:07:080:07:11

OK, so a tufty head is basically some seeds

0:07:110:07:14

and soil in the ends of some old tights.

0:07:140:07:17

Ask your mum, sister or auntie but please ask,

0:07:170:07:20

or you and me could both be in trouble.

0:07:200:07:22

I'm going to use a mug like that, hold it open nicely,

0:07:220:07:26

then you can put in some seeds.

0:07:260:07:28

Now quite a generous portion, I'd say just over a teaspoon,

0:07:280:07:33

because they're going to grow the hair of the tufty head.

0:07:330:07:35

So just throw them in like that.

0:07:350:07:38

All right. Then quite a generous amount of soil.

0:07:380:07:42

Make sure it's nicely full, push it down.

0:07:420:07:46

OK. Then slide it off, but make sure it all

0:07:470:07:50

goes down to the bottom - a nice big ball like that - and tie

0:07:500:07:55

a knot in the end of the tights to keep all the soil in place, like so.

0:07:550:08:00

Get your yogurt pot and fill it with water about a third of the way up.

0:08:020:08:06

Nice.

0:08:070:08:09

And then knot first, put your tights full of soil into it

0:08:090:08:14

so all the seeds are at the top and the water will start to soak

0:08:140:08:17

its way up the tights, through the soil and feed the seeds at the top.

0:08:170:08:20

And after about two weeks watering it every day,

0:08:200:08:23

left in a sunny place...

0:08:230:08:24

it'll look like this.

0:08:240:08:26

It looks good and green but lacks character.

0:08:260:08:29

But we'll soon fix that.

0:08:290:08:31

You need to get some card and start drawing some eyes and a mouth.

0:08:310:08:35

Cool.

0:08:410:08:42

Once you've cut them out, you just stick them to your tufty head.

0:08:420:08:45

I'm using some Sticky Tack...

0:08:450:08:47

..on the back there.

0:08:490:08:50

Oh, yeah! He looks awesome, doesn't he?

0:08:550:08:59

Right, let's get him back up on that window sill.

0:08:590:09:02

All they need now is sunshine,

0:09:030:09:05

but there's none of that happening around here today.

0:09:050:09:07

I'm sure that picture moves on its own,

0:09:090:09:11

it's almost as if it's animated.

0:09:110:09:14

Ahhh!

0:09:160:09:18

Ahhh!

0:09:200:09:23

-Wah...

-What is it, mate?

0:09:250:09:27

I just had the worst nightmare about having my hair cut.

0:09:270:09:30

Hey, shush now, you two.

0:09:300:09:32

These guys need to learn how to control their mouths.

0:09:330:09:36

Well, maybe I should.

0:09:360:09:37

I'm going to show you how to make your tufty heads talk

0:09:370:09:40

with this awesome lip-sync animation.

0:09:400:09:42

All you're going to need is some pens, some thick paper,

0:09:420:09:45

some scissors, some sticky tack, a mirror

0:09:450:09:47

and something to shoot your animation on.

0:09:470:09:49

You can either use a tablet with an animation app or a camera

0:09:490:09:51

and something to record your sound with,

0:09:510:09:53

and you can make the animation in just three ninja moves.

0:09:530:09:56

Ninja move number one.

0:09:560:09:59

You need to record the dialogue for these guys to talk,

0:09:590:10:01

-so I'm going to do that on a smartphone.

-Wah...

-What is it, mate?

0:10:010:10:05

And as the voice speaks, I'm going to change the mouth shape

0:10:050:10:08

to match what's being said. Now I need to make my mouths.

0:10:080:10:11

Ninja move number two.

0:10:110:10:13

If you're wondering what mouth shape you need for a certain sound, grab

0:10:130:10:16

the mirror and slowly say the word so you can spot what shape you need.

0:10:160:10:20

Ooh.

0:10:200:10:22

I might do it to the side because a straight on one

0:10:220:10:24

may not read as well.

0:10:240:10:26

Ooh, ah, ah.

0:10:260:10:28

I just had a nightmare.

0:10:280:10:30

There you go. A medium open mouth, maybe.

0:10:300:10:33

Now I need to cut them out.

0:10:330:10:35

I think it's good to keep it simple to begin with and as you get

0:10:350:10:37

better at lip-syncing, then start adding in some more mouth shapes.

0:10:370:10:40

So now I have all my mouth shapes.

0:10:450:10:48

Ninja move number three.

0:10:480:10:50

It's time to shoot the animation.

0:10:500:10:51

You can stick the mouth shapes to your tufty head using

0:10:510:10:54

a bit of Sticky Tack. I've put my sound recording

0:10:540:10:56

up on my computer so I can see it and so I can listen to it.

0:10:560:10:59

"Wah, what is it mate? I just had the..."

0:10:590:11:02

Perfect. And now I'm going to set up my camera and start shooting.

0:11:020:11:05

I'm just going to use this shoebox as a little stand for it

0:11:050:11:07

and find the first frame.

0:11:070:11:08

Argh... This might take some time, so time lapse.

0:11:110:11:14

Each time I replace a mouth on the tufty heads

0:11:160:11:19

I take a new picture so that when I edit the pictures together,

0:11:190:11:22

it'll make it appear like they are talking.

0:11:220:11:24

OK, tufty heads, I think that's enough chatter.

0:11:270:11:29

It's time to take a look at our mini masterpiece.

0:11:290:11:32

Ahhh!

0:11:370:11:40

Ahhh!

0:11:400:11:42

-Wah...

-What is it, mate?

0:11:450:11:47

I just had the worst nightmare about having my hair cut.

0:11:470:11:50

Tell me about it! Your haircut gives me loads of nightmares.

0:11:500:11:54

There you go. Try making your tufty heads talk

0:11:540:11:57

and remember, there's loads of great animation apps to help you.

0:11:570:12:01

Art Ninja!

0:12:010:12:02

The weather must be better by now.

0:12:050:12:06

I'd love to get out and do some painting.

0:12:060:12:09

RAINDROPS FALL

0:12:090:12:12

Wow, it's persistently raining out there.

0:12:120:12:15

That kind of thing didn't put of famous artist J M W Turner though.

0:12:150:12:19

In fact, I think I'll do some Turner-inspired art using wet paper.

0:12:190:12:24

Whoa, who are you?

0:12:240:12:26

I'm famous British painter Turner. J M W Turner, to be precise.

0:12:260:12:32

I was a landscape painter who often captured the energy

0:12:320:12:35

and power of the sea and the weather.

0:12:350:12:37

Here's one of my best-known paintings.

0:12:370:12:40

I once tied myself to the mast of a ship

0:12:400:12:42

so that I could paint up a storm.

0:12:420:12:44

Dude, you don't need to tie yourself to a ship!

0:12:440:12:47

You just have to put your painting the rain, I'll show you.

0:12:470:12:50

See you later.

0:12:500:12:52

I've got some dark paper here, some nice primary colours,

0:12:520:12:56

a bit of black and white as well.

0:12:560:12:57

The first thing I'm going to do is give the paper

0:12:570:13:00

a good spray with some water

0:13:000:13:01

because that will give the painting a nice rainy effect.

0:13:010:13:04

And I'm going to paint a picture of a busy road at night.

0:13:040:13:07

I'm going to start by painting some cars with some blue,

0:13:070:13:10

adding a little bit of white to it to lighten it up.

0:13:100:13:13

To the roof.

0:13:170:13:18

Now, the paint that I'm using is acrylic paint,

0:13:200:13:23

and that's because it sticks to wet paper better.

0:13:230:13:26

But you can also use poster paint.

0:13:260:13:28

Another car next to it.

0:13:280:13:30

Look how the paint runs into the water like that,

0:13:340:13:37

it makes it feel like it's raining.

0:13:370:13:39

So the roads. We've got to have some colour

0:13:390:13:41

coming from the other direction as well.

0:13:410:13:43

I'm going to add a little bit of black in, just to put some detail

0:13:460:13:49

back into the cars and give it some windows and some tyres.

0:13:490:13:53

You don't have to be a professional painter for this technique to work.

0:13:530:13:57

If it starts to dry as you're painting it, just add a little bit

0:14:040:14:08

more water to keep it all nice and moist.

0:14:080:14:12

It all adds to the effect.

0:14:120:14:14

As the cars start to go off into the distance,

0:14:140:14:17

you don't need to paint as much detail.

0:14:170:14:20

For the number plates with a bit of yellow. Yeah.

0:14:200:14:23

Now I'm going to do the street lamps with a bit of yellow

0:14:290:14:32

and a bit of white round the edges to give them that glow.

0:14:320:14:35

Some red for the back lights.

0:14:410:14:42

I'm just sort of dabbing it on to get a kind of

0:14:470:14:49

nice blurred, watery effect.

0:14:490:14:52

I need a bit more water, actually.

0:14:520:14:54

And a bit of white for that car that's coming

0:14:560:14:58

in the other direction.

0:14:580:15:00

And of course we're going to need some reflections,

0:15:000:15:03

because there's water on the road, look at that,

0:15:030:15:06

all flowing through the water.

0:15:060:15:08

Lovely.

0:15:080:15:09

I'm just picking it up in the lamps to give it a nice glow.

0:15:090:15:13

And then the reflections of those back lights.

0:15:170:15:19

Now we could do with a little bit of black going back in

0:15:250:15:28

to pull them out from the dark background.

0:15:280:15:30

Spray. All it needs now is a frame.

0:15:330:15:36

Look at that.

0:15:390:15:40

A Turner-style water picture.

0:15:400:15:42

Go on, now it's your turn to try it.

0:15:420:15:44

-PHONE RINGS

-Oh, my hands are all messy.

0:15:460:15:49

I'll have to let the answer phone get it.

0:15:490:15:52

Hi, Ricky, it's your mum.

0:15:520:15:54

Your dad is absolutely bursting...

0:15:540:15:57

with pride about what a great artist you've become.

0:15:570:16:00

He's especially proud of what you've got coming up.

0:16:000:16:03

You'll do some art on the fly, you'll relax while watching how

0:16:030:16:06

to make the Do Not Stress Ball and who knows what you'll do with a hose?

0:16:060:16:11

Bye!

0:16:110:16:12

Well, that was enlightening.

0:16:120:16:14

I wish that rain would stop, I'd love to get out.

0:16:150:16:18

Ricky!

0:16:180:16:19

I'm not going anywhere with these pesky ninja assistants.

0:16:190:16:22

What can I help you with?

0:16:220:16:23

Ricky, what can we make with elastic bands?

0:16:230:16:25

Elastic bands? Bit of a stretch,

0:16:250:16:27

-maybe I can be more flexible next time.

-Oh....

0:16:270:16:31

Ah, this looks interesting. I pick you.

0:16:310:16:34

Yay!

0:16:340:16:35

-So what's your name?

-I'm Maisie and I'm from Liverpool.

0:16:350:16:38

Liverpool, lovely. And what have you got for me today?

0:16:380:16:42

Can you make art with a milk bottle?

0:16:420:16:44

I can do better than that, I can make an amazing sun catcher.

0:16:440:16:47

I'll just get my stuff.

0:16:470:16:49

OK, I've got myself some pens, a pair of scissors

0:16:490:16:51

and a milk bottle and some double-sided sticky tape

0:16:510:16:54

and I'm going to cut out the handle

0:16:540:16:56

because that's the hardest bit to do anything with.

0:16:560:16:59

Careful while cutting it out

0:16:590:17:00

because some of the plastic is thicker than the other parts.

0:17:000:17:03

There we go, cut along this line that the milk bottle has

0:17:030:17:06

to create two halves, but still being careful.

0:17:060:17:09

And the bottom.

0:17:110:17:13

It's raining here at the moment.

0:17:130:17:14

What do you like to do on a rainy day?

0:17:140:17:16

Sit in and like make jewellery and stuff like that.

0:17:160:17:19

Very arty.

0:17:190:17:21

After this, you could make a milk bottle sun catcher.

0:17:210:17:24

This side I'm going to draw a splat.

0:17:240:17:25

Why are you drawing a splat?

0:17:250:17:27

You'll just have to wait and see, won't you?

0:17:270:17:29

And a couple of drops.

0:17:290:17:31

And on the other side I'm going to draw a little fly. Here's his eyes.

0:17:330:17:37

He's got his tongue sticking out and a big grin on his face.

0:17:400:17:43

I'm going to draw him some wings, separately so I can put them

0:17:430:17:47

where I want later.

0:17:470:17:48

I'm just colouring in the fly's body now.

0:17:490:17:52

-What colour?

-He's a black fly but I'm going to do his tongue red,

0:17:520:17:56

so there will be some colour in there.

0:17:560:17:58

I'm going to colour in the splat green and the pens that I'm using

0:17:580:18:02

are just normal felt tips, a couple of them are permanent pens.

0:18:020:18:05

I'd recommend having a go with a few pens

0:18:050:18:07

and seeing what writes on it best.

0:18:070:18:09

-What colour would you paint your fly?

-Blue.

0:18:090:18:11

-Like a bluebottle?

-Yeah.

0:18:110:18:13

Good idea. What's your favourite colour?

0:18:130:18:15

-Pink.

-Pink is a good colour.

0:18:150:18:17

What's your favourite colour?

0:18:170:18:19

My favourite colour is yellow. In fact, save the best till last.

0:18:190:18:23

Here we go.

0:18:230:18:24

You could use pink, Maisie.

0:18:240:18:26

I'm going to cut that out.

0:18:260:18:28

I'm cutting the edge first to get to the flat bit easier.

0:18:280:18:31

So it's not just a drawing, it's also a sun catcher,

0:18:330:18:35

so we're going to stick these bits to the window

0:18:350:18:37

and when the sun goes through it'll make it look bright and colourful.

0:18:370:18:41

That's amazing.

0:18:410:18:42

So what's your favourite insect then, Maisie?

0:18:420:18:45

-A butterfly.

-I like butterflies.

0:18:450:18:47

Do you think you'll use your milk bottle to make a sun catcher?

0:18:470:18:50

-Yeah.

-You could make a butterfly one.

-Yay!

0:18:500:18:53

I'm hoping that my sun catcher will make the sun come out.

0:18:530:18:55

Is it sunny up there?

0:18:550:18:57

Yes.

0:18:570:18:58

There we go, and I'm going to attach the wings to him

0:18:580:19:01

with some double-sided sticky tape.

0:19:010:19:02

And because he's been splattered, I might hold off on the other one.

0:19:050:19:09

So I can stick the fly on the window,

0:19:090:19:11

I'm putting tape on the back of it and some tape on the splats.

0:19:110:19:15

How long have you being doing art for, Ricky?

0:19:150:19:18

Oh, a long, long time.

0:19:180:19:19

I've had a passion for it ever since I was young.

0:19:190:19:22

It does take a long time to master all the arts

0:19:220:19:24

and become an Art Ninja - maybe 300, 400 years.

0:19:240:19:28

OK, are you ready for the reveal?

0:19:290:19:31

-Yeah.

-Here we go.

0:19:310:19:33

So what do you think?

0:19:330:19:35

Wow, that's amazing.

0:19:350:19:37

-Do you think you'll make one?

-Yeah.

0:19:370:19:39

Wow, look at that. A fly sun catcher.

0:19:390:19:42

So what would you give it out of ten?

0:19:420:19:44

A sunny seven out of ten.

0:19:440:19:46

Oh, that's not bad. Thanks very much, Maisie, bye-bye.

0:19:460:19:49

Bye.

0:19:490:19:51

There's no need to waste any part of a milk bottle,

0:19:510:19:53

even the lid can be an important part of an artist's kit.

0:19:530:19:56

A couple of extra ones here.

0:19:560:19:57

See? You really can do art everywhere.

0:20:220:20:25

The weather's still bad, I'm feeling stressed.

0:20:310:20:35

Hey, you there!

0:20:350:20:37

Oh, and this guy, he's so annoying.

0:20:370:20:39

Feeling stressed?

0:20:390:20:42

Funny you should say that.

0:20:420:20:44

You need the Do Not Stress Ball to squeeze your troubled mind.

0:20:440:20:49

I feel so relaxed.

0:20:530:20:55

Here's how you make it.

0:20:550:20:58

You need some clingfilm...

0:20:580:21:00

..half a cup of rice...

0:21:020:21:03

..then pour it into the clingfilm and wrap it up nice and tight.

0:21:050:21:09

Voila.

0:21:120:21:14

Now you need two different coloured balloons...

0:21:140:21:17

..and some scissors.

0:21:190:21:21

Cut off the open ends of each balloon.

0:21:210:21:24

Snippy.

0:21:290:21:30

Stretch one balloon over the top

0:21:310:21:34

and pull it all around until the rice is nearly covered.

0:21:340:21:38

With the rice end facing up, take the other balloon

0:21:410:21:44

and stretch it over the top.

0:21:440:21:46

Now you need a black and a white marker pen.

0:21:530:21:56

Use these to draw an interesting face on your ball.

0:21:570:22:02

Here's one amusing example of what you could do, ha-ha!

0:22:020:22:06

The Do Not Stress Ball.

0:22:080:22:09

I want one. I need one now!

0:22:090:22:12

Where do I get one?

0:22:120:22:14

Not available in the shops...

0:22:140:22:16

or anywhere. Ha-ha-ha!

0:22:160:22:19

Argh...

0:22:190:22:21

Wow, do you hear that?

0:22:230:22:25

SILENCE

0:22:250:22:27

Silence. It's stopped raining!

0:22:270:22:29

I'm going to get out while the going's good.

0:22:290:22:31

Gavin, what are you doing?

0:22:340:22:36

Sorry, mate, I thought as it's sunny outside I'd get out and water all

0:22:360:22:40

the hanging baskets in the block. It turns out there's quite a lot.

0:22:400:22:43

So you're telling me I've been stuck in all day

0:22:430:22:47

and it hasn't even been raining?

0:22:470:22:49

Erm, yeah.

0:22:490:22:50

Ahhh!

0:22:500:22:52

THE SCREAM ECHOES

0:22:520:22:55

Are you all right, mate?

0:22:570:22:58

Yeah, I'm OK now.

0:22:580:23:00

Now this has given me an idea for some art.

0:23:000:23:03

You take that hose and I'll meet you at the warehouse in a bit.

0:23:030:23:06

I will defeat you, monkey serpents!

0:23:220:23:24

Oh, Gavin, pull yourself together!

0:23:330:23:36

Ninja skills.

0:23:360:23:38

Oh, Gavin, we need that hose for art purposes, my friend.

0:23:390:23:43

It's time to get our ninja on.

0:23:430:23:45

Art Ninja!

0:23:490:23:51

BOTH: Art Ninja?

0:23:510:23:53

Strike a pose.

0:23:530:23:54

Great, Ricky, it's a wall.

0:23:590:24:01

That's right. But where you guys see just a wall,

0:24:010:24:04

an Art Ninja sees a canvas.

0:24:040:24:07

And anyway, I'll be directing you guys

0:24:070:24:10

and you'll be doing all the work.

0:24:100:24:12

OK, kids, you know the drill -

0:24:140:24:16

don't use drills without an adult.

0:24:160:24:19

OK, guys, this is all about placing the pins in the perfect positions.

0:24:190:24:24

Start feeding the pipe through.

0:24:240:24:26

That's it, clip that one in, just slide it through a little bit.

0:24:270:24:32

Yeah, just bend it round that one.

0:24:320:24:34

That's perfect, yeah. OK, Sarah, move across a little bit.

0:24:360:24:39

Yeah, start stretching up nice and high.

0:24:410:24:43

Yeah, a couple of bricks above your head.

0:24:430:24:45

Now that's directing.

0:24:450:24:48

SIREN BLARES

0:24:480:24:50

Yeah, that's great, guys, it's looking really good.

0:24:530:24:56

There you go, Gavin.

0:24:570:24:59

Ricky, what are we making?

0:24:590:25:01

You don't worry about that, my friend,

0:25:010:25:03

you just keep taking instructions from me and all will become clear.

0:25:030:25:06

OK, Sarah, so just tighten that onto that valve there.

0:25:060:25:09

I'll give you a little clue here, it needs to be watertight.

0:25:090:25:12

Oh, yeah?

0:25:120:25:13

Oh, look at that, you're a glowing example.

0:25:130:25:15

OK, Gavin, have you got that nozzle nice and secure?

0:25:170:25:20

Yep, got it.

0:25:200:25:22

Right, come down.

0:25:220:25:23

Man the pumps.

0:25:260:25:28

Kill the lights.

0:25:310:25:32

Pump for all you're worth.

0:25:340:25:37

MUSIC: New World Symphony Largo by Antonin Dvorak

0:25:370:25:39

Behold, my magnificent fluorescent elephant.

0:25:580:26:02

Oh, well done, guys, it looks amazing!

0:26:150:26:17

Gav, I'm particularly pleased with you today,

0:26:170:26:19

so much so - why don't you have a going at being in charge?

0:26:190:26:22

Really? Oh, thanks, Ricky.

0:26:220:26:24

Gavin, if you're going to be in charge, you should stand

0:26:270:26:30

in the right place. How about on this massive obvious X right here?

0:26:300:26:34

Perfect.

0:26:350:26:37

I'm the director, I was born to do this, it's my time to shine.

0:26:370:26:42

Man the pumps!

0:26:420:26:44

Whatever you say, Gavin.

0:26:440:26:46

Action.

0:26:460:26:47

Watch this.

0:26:470:26:49

I'm going to get you for this, Ricky!

0:26:590:27:01

You should have worn trunks, mate.

0:27:010:27:04

Just you wait.

0:27:040:27:05

Art Ninja!

0:27:080:27:09

It was nice to get out of the flat in the end.

0:27:130:27:15

Today has taught me a valuable Art Ninja lesson -

0:27:150:27:19

if you want to make art but the weather is ominous,

0:27:190:27:22

make a picture with hosepipe and paint that's luminous.

0:27:220:27:25

And Gavin didn't even get his own back.

0:27:270:27:29

What is it?

0:27:370:27:38

There's something on my face?

0:27:380:27:40

Ahhh!

0:27:430:27:45

To get your Art Ninja on, go to the CBBC website, Ninja Skills.
