'I'm Ricky. I live in Bristol.

0:00:020:00:05

'By day, I work as an animator,

0:00:050:00:07

'which is lucky cos I love art.

0:00:070:00:10

'I live for art. I even dream of art.

0:00:100:00:13

'I draw.

0:00:130:00:15

'I paint.

0:00:150:00:17

'I make things.

0:00:170:00:20

'I hang out with my mates, Gavin, Michelle and Sarah.

0:00:210:00:26

'Most importantly, I make ninja moves. Some people call me the...

0:00:260:00:31

'Art Ninja.

0:00:310:00:33

'Today, I'll show you how to make an awesome toxic bin for your

0:00:330:00:38

'smelly socks, an incredible robot with dots

0:00:380:00:43

'and I'll paint with mates and pogo sticks because today it's...

0:00:430:00:48

'Day Of The Trash.'

0:00:490:00:52

ALARM BEEPS

0:00:530:00:55

Ohhhh! Tidy party last night.

0:00:550:00:59

I might need to tidy the flat though.

0:00:590:01:02

Time to get my Ninja on.

0:01:030:01:05

SMACK!

0:01:050:01:06

And my clothes.

0:01:060:01:09

Wow, it was an even better party than I remember.

0:01:340:01:37

I better clear up.

0:01:370:01:40

Ninja skills.

0:01:490:01:51

All this cleaning up has given me an idea.

0:01:510:01:53

I could use this old cardboard to make myself an awesome toxic bin.

0:01:530:01:56

I could put my old socks, any old rubbish in it.

0:01:560:01:59

# Art Ninja! #

0:01:590:02:00

The Art Ninja toxic bin, ideal for all your toxic waste or just...

0:02:000:02:04

ahem, your smelly socks.

0:02:040:02:06

I'm going to start by drawing round this plate.

0:02:080:02:12

There we are. Cut that out.

0:02:150:02:17

Doesn't matter if it's a bit rough,

0:02:170:02:19

it's going to be a toxic bin after all.

0:02:190:02:21

Right, we're going to need three of these.

0:02:230:02:25

So I'll just ninja myself some more.

0:02:250:02:27

'Yee-ha!'

0:02:270:02:28

Nice.

0:02:280:02:29

And I've cut out the centres of these two.

0:02:290:02:32

Just put those to one side for now.

0:02:320:02:34

Got any more cardboard down here?

0:02:340:02:36

I'm going to draw a wave across the top of this.

0:02:370:02:40

I can do a little bit better than that.

0:02:420:02:45

There we are. Going to cut that out too.

0:02:470:02:49

There we are.

0:02:530:02:55

And these two bits are going to be the main part of my toxic bin.

0:02:550:02:59

The great thing about the corrugated cardboard is that

0:02:590:03:01

I can roll it round.

0:03:010:03:03

But I'm going to keep it a little bit geometric, maybe every

0:03:030:03:07

two and a half centimetres doing a crease,

0:03:070:03:10

so it feels more industrial rather than like a perfect curve.

0:03:100:03:13

Great. Now just going to tape that together.

0:03:130:03:18

I'm going to do the same thing with this bit.

0:03:210:03:24

Cool. Now because I've cut this curve into it,

0:03:280:03:30

it means when I attach it together I can have it

0:03:300:03:33

pointing in a certain direction, and I think that'll look really good.

0:03:330:03:36

OK, I'm going to take the bit that I didn't cut a hole in -

0:03:360:03:39

that's going to be the base.

0:03:390:03:41

I'm going to tape the first tube to it.

0:03:410:03:44

And as you tape this to the base,

0:03:440:03:46

it will help hold it into a nice circular shape.

0:03:460:03:49

You can put some sticky tape on the inside too.

0:03:490:03:52

Cool. Now I'm going to take one of the rings I did,

0:03:520:03:54

and stick that to the top of this one.

0:03:540:03:57

There's quite a lot of tape in this one,

0:03:580:04:00

so you need to make sure you've got a dependable supply.

0:04:000:04:03

There we are.

0:04:050:04:06

Now I'll take that other loop I did, and turn it so that

0:04:060:04:09

the angle then is down first,

0:04:090:04:12

so it kind of leans over forward.

0:04:120:04:14

It's easy to put things in then.

0:04:140:04:16

It also makes it look like a pipe.

0:04:160:04:19

Tape that on too... Cool.

0:04:190:04:22

Now I'm going to use the final ring.

0:04:220:04:25

And that goes on top here.

0:04:250:04:27

Nearly there.

0:04:290:04:30

Now there we have the overall structure for the toxic bin.

0:04:320:04:36

Now it could do with a nice layer of papier-mache.

0:04:360:04:40

So, luckily, loads of mess round here.

0:04:400:04:43

Got some newspaper and papier-mache mix,

0:04:430:04:45

which is two parts glue, one part water.

0:04:450:04:47

I'll use one of those old boxes.

0:04:470:04:49

I don't want to get the kitchen too messy after clearing it up.

0:04:490:04:52

There we go.

0:04:540:04:56

So I'm going to do a layer of papier-mache all over,

0:04:560:04:59

and a little bit down the front of the inside.

0:04:590:05:02

A nice bit of messy therapy from all the tidying up.

0:05:020:05:04

The reason I'm covering this in papier-mache is to cover up

0:05:050:05:08

the sticky tape and make it easier to paint and it's helping me

0:05:080:05:12

clean up all that loose newspaper.

0:05:120:05:13

Right, it's looking pretty good.

0:05:130:05:16

Got a nice coverage all over.

0:05:160:05:18

The next stage is to wait for it to dry,

0:05:180:05:21

but I wait for nothing cos I'm the Art Ninja!

0:05:210:05:23

'Yee-ha!'

0:05:230:05:24

There we go. Nice and dry and painted silver.

0:05:240:05:28

You can paint it grey if you don't have silver paint.

0:05:280:05:30

I've painted the inside black too.

0:05:300:05:33

Next, I'll do a technique on the outside

0:05:330:05:35

called dry brushing to give it a bit of texture

0:05:350:05:38

and make it look old and worn.

0:05:380:05:39

So you need to put a bit of black paint in here.

0:05:390:05:43

There we go.

0:05:430:05:45

So I'm going to get a little bit of paint just on the tips.

0:05:470:05:50

You might need to rub some of the excess off.

0:05:500:05:52

Then just start flicking it across.

0:05:520:05:55

Just let the dry brush catch in places.

0:05:550:05:58

See how it picks up on all the facets, makes it look old and worn.

0:05:580:06:03

And I'm going to do that all the way round.

0:06:030:06:06

It's details like this that make it look really real.

0:06:080:06:11

Just round the top. There we are.

0:06:110:06:15

Right, now I'm going to draw some industrial-looking bolts round

0:06:150:06:19

the top and I'll do that just by sketching an outline of them.

0:06:190:06:22

Just sketching them. Lovely.

0:06:240:06:26

It's going to be full of toxic stuff.

0:06:260:06:28

I think it needs just one more finishing touch.

0:06:280:06:31

'I've made some little critters who like hanging out around bins -

0:06:320:06:36

'a cockroach, a rat,

0:06:360:06:38

'and there have been rumours...'

0:06:380:06:40

There's been alligators in the sewers!

0:06:400:06:43

There's one there.

0:06:430:06:46

Put some slime underneath like that.

0:06:460:06:48

And of course, probably going to keep some smelly socks in here,

0:06:480:06:52

so we need a little warning sign.

0:06:520:06:55

There we go.

0:06:550:06:57

This bin certainly isn't rubbish.

0:06:570:06:59

It's awesome.

0:06:590:07:01

# And I love what you do Don't you know that you're toxic? #

0:07:030:07:07

Oh, the toxic bin.

0:07:070:07:09

Just throwing it out there, but why don't you have a go?

0:07:090:07:12

I wonder what time it is.

0:07:170:07:19

Oh, I know what time it is. It's Animation O'Clock.

0:07:190:07:22

Hi, I thought it was a lovely day,

0:07:220:07:24

so I'll get outside and do some animation in the garden.

0:07:240:07:27

But I'll tell you what, it's too hot for jeans...

0:07:270:07:29

Ah, that's loads better.

0:07:320:07:34

Who needs fancy pants kit to animate? Not me.

0:07:420:07:45

I just need my ninja fingers.

0:07:450:07:46

To make this nifty flipbook animation, all you're going

0:07:500:07:52

to need is some sticky memo notes,

0:07:520:07:54

a pen and your imagination.

0:07:540:07:59

You can make this animation in just three ninja moves.

0:08:000:08:03

Ninja Move Number One.

0:08:030:08:05

Take the last page of your sticky memo book,

0:08:050:08:07

that's where you'll draw your first frame.

0:08:070:08:10

Now, I'm going to be doing a motorcyclist jumping over

0:08:100:08:12

some of these rad little cars.

0:08:120:08:14

So - going to start drawing my motorcyclist.

0:08:140:08:16

Draw its first frame.

0:08:160:08:18

Put a little helmet on this person here. Safety first.

0:08:180:08:21

Then flick to the next page

0:08:210:08:23

and trace some aspects of your motorcyclist through.

0:08:230:08:26

But what I'm going to do is trace it slightly higher,

0:08:260:08:28

so it looks like the engine's running and they're bobbing up and

0:08:280:08:31

down as the engine ticks over.

0:08:310:08:32

Just flick that between like that.

0:08:320:08:34

And you can see that's starting to animate.

0:08:340:08:36

'Ninja Move Number Two.'

0:08:360:08:38

You've got to continue to draw all your frames

0:08:380:08:40

through your sticky memo book - all the way to the top.

0:08:400:08:43

Now this bit takes quite a bit of time, so let's time-lapse.

0:08:430:08:46

In case you're wondering, that's my mate Rich, who helped me film this.

0:08:460:08:51

Phew, right, once you've drawn all your frames all you have to

0:08:530:08:55

do is flip the book from back to front to make the animation work.

0:08:550:08:58

You can see the little motorcyclist riding along.

0:08:580:09:01

I've even done a bit of fumes coming out the back to show

0:09:010:09:04

the engine's running and a couple of skids.

0:09:040:09:06

Vroom!

0:09:060:09:07

And something special for the stunt.

0:09:070:09:09

'Ninja Move Number Three.'

0:09:090:09:11

Create the assault course for your motorcyclist.

0:09:110:09:15

So I'm going to have a little ramp over here.

0:09:150:09:18

And let's put some little cars for them to jump.

0:09:180:09:21

Pick-up truck.

0:09:210:09:23

It's kind of weird jumping over a big wheel,

0:09:230:09:25

but that's going to happen too.

0:09:250:09:27

And...fire engine.

0:09:270:09:28

And then I'm going to have a little area for them to land on.

0:09:280:09:33

A little landing pad, you know I'm a nice guy.

0:09:330:09:35

OK, let's test our bike.

0:09:350:09:37

If we flick the flick book and move it along the table at the same

0:09:370:09:40

time, it creates the illusion that the bike's actually driving along.

0:09:400:09:43

Yeah, it works.

0:09:450:09:47

And now we're ready for the death-defying stunt.

0:09:470:09:49

Ninja fingers away.

0:09:490:09:51

Yeah. Awesome fun animation without any fancy pants kit.

0:10:070:10:10

Why not see what you can create with some memo notes, a pen

0:10:100:10:13

and your imagination.

0:10:130:10:16

Ricky out.

0:10:160:10:17

BELL RINGS

0:10:210:10:24

-Oh, hi, Dad.

-Hi, Ricky.

-What have you got there?

0:10:240:10:26

I've been clearing out the attic. There's loads of your rubbish there.

0:10:260:10:30

That's all I need, more rubbish.

0:10:300:10:32

Oh, take that. Oh.

0:10:320:10:34

-Thank you.

-Oh, my arms.

0:10:340:10:36

There you go - one of your old robots in there

0:10:360:10:39

and your fluffy kangaroo, Skippy. You used to love him.

0:10:390:10:42

It's a bit more like rubbish Skippy these days.

0:10:420:10:45

And you used to love this - your old pogo stick.

0:10:450:10:47

-Oh, I must give that a go.

-Must go.

0:10:470:10:49

-Bye, Dad.

-Or should that be "pogo".

0:10:490:10:51

Bye, Dad!

0:10:510:10:53

Hey, cotton buds. I wonder what these are for.

0:10:550:10:58

I know, I could use them

0:10:580:11:00

to make a painting of this robot made up of tiny dots.

0:11:000:11:04

Just grab some paper.

0:11:040:11:06

And I'm going to draw myself a couple of guidelines before I start.

0:11:060:11:10

'I'm drawing my robot, but you can do anything.'

0:11:130:11:16

That's my outline done.

0:11:160:11:19

Now I'm going to use the cotton buds to make the points on my picture.

0:11:190:11:22

I'm going to start putting silver round the robot's head.

0:11:220:11:25

'This technique is called pointillism

0:11:270:11:29

'and is often associated with the artist Georges Seurat.'

0:11:290:11:34

You find that the more you use the cotton buds the bigger the end gets

0:11:340:11:38

and it's hard to get a nice, defined dot.

0:11:380:11:40

But the great thing about cotton buds is you can just turn around

0:11:400:11:43

and you've got another end you can use.

0:11:430:11:46

Right, I think that's enough with the silver,

0:11:480:11:50

let's move on to some red.

0:11:500:11:52

Bonjour, je m'appelle Georges Seurat.

0:11:520:11:55

As you know, this technique is called pointillism.

0:11:550:11:57

What's that, Seurat?

0:11:570:11:59

The point of pointillism is to paint points of pure separate colour,

0:11:590:12:03

which from a distance would make your eyes mix the colour.

0:12:030:12:05

Gives a whole new meaning to seeing spots in front of your eyes.

0:12:050:12:09

Computer monitors work in much the same way,

0:12:090:12:11

with their pixels acting like my spots.

0:12:110:12:14

I was way ahead of my time.

0:12:140:12:16

Talking of which, you'd better get on with your robot.

0:12:160:12:19

Seurat, you only painted seven big paintings in your whole life.

0:12:190:12:23

Oui, my most famous one,

0:12:230:12:25

A Sunday Afternoon On The Island Of La Grande Jatte,

0:12:250:12:29

took two years, but you only have a couple of minutes.

0:12:290:12:32

Thanks for that, Seurat.

0:12:320:12:34

He's got red outlines through his eyes, so we'll do those first.

0:12:360:12:40

I can't believe Dad brought more stuff round

0:12:430:12:45

when I've just finished cleaning up the flat.

0:12:450:12:47

Still, I think it's going to make a tidy picture.

0:12:470:12:50

Right, let's add some nice yellow in there.

0:12:500:12:53

I wonder what robot would say about this picture.

0:12:560:12:59

-Probably...

-HE BEEPS

0:12:590:13:02

Or something like that.

0:13:020:13:05

It's starting to come together now.

0:13:080:13:10

I think I'll add a little bit more silver on the top.

0:13:100:13:13

Now I'm going to mix a bit of black and silver together

0:13:130:13:15

to get a dark silver to do some shadows and some worn areas.

0:13:150:13:19

Adds a little bit of texture and depth.

0:13:230:13:25

There we are.

0:13:270:13:29

I'd say that's finished and it looks awesome.

0:13:290:13:33

Just going to put a frame on it.

0:13:330:13:36

The robot pointillism picture.

0:13:380:13:40

-AS ROBOT:

-You could make one too!

0:13:400:13:42

-PHONE RINGS

-It's probably my mum.

0:13:480:13:51

She's the only one who ever calls.

0:13:510:13:54

-MACHINE BEEPS

-Hi, Ricky. It's your mum.

0:13:540:13:56

Thought I'd give you a call to remind you

0:13:560:13:59

what you're going to be doing today.

0:13:590:14:02

You'll be printing an underwater scene,

0:14:020:14:04

finding out how to fashion a sock ninja

0:14:040:14:07

and doing some pointillism painting using your old pogo stick.

0:14:070:14:11

-How does she know all this?

-And don't forget to flush the loo.

0:14:130:14:16

Whenever you go to the toilet you always...

0:14:160:14:19

Oh-ho! That's enough of that.

0:14:190:14:21

-Is it lunch yet?

-ALL: Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:14:210:14:23

Better hold lunch. What can I help you guys with?

0:14:240:14:28

What can you make with old library cards?

0:14:280:14:30

A library card? Let's book it in for later.

0:14:300:14:33

BOTH: Ricky, what can you do with these toothbrushes?

0:14:330:14:37

-You've got some cheek. Maybe another time.

-BOTH: Aww.

0:14:370:14:41

BOTH: Ricky. What can you make with this?

0:14:410:14:44

-These guys look interesting. I choose you.

-Yeah!

0:14:450:14:49

-What are your names?

-I'm Shae.

-And I'm Ellie.

0:14:520:14:55

-Lovely to meet you guys. And where are you from?

-Wolverhampton.

0:14:550:14:58

-So what have you got for me today?

-A pizza base.

0:14:580:15:03

I don't think I can do anything with an actual pizza base

0:15:030:15:05

but maybe the bit of polystyrene that comes underneath in the box,

0:15:050:15:08

I can do some art with that.

0:15:080:15:10

I've got loads of those lying around.

0:15:100:15:12

Right, here we go. I've got my polystyrene pizza base.

0:15:120:15:16

-Wow.

-And I'm going to use it to make a print of a goldfish bowl.

0:15:160:15:22

I like fish on pizza. Love a bit of anchovies.

0:15:220:15:25

-Ugh!

-What's wrong with that?

0:15:250:15:27

There we go.

0:15:290:15:31

I'm using a pencil to push the lines into the pizza base

0:15:310:15:34

and these impressions won't be printed when I roll paint over it.

0:15:340:15:39

They'll come out as white lines. Is there any art you like doing?

0:15:390:15:43

-I'm quite into painting and doing...

-Drawing.

0:15:430:15:45

But actually, yeah. I like... I'm into modelling.

0:15:450:15:49

I do lots of things at home with clay.

0:15:490:15:51

Sounds great.

0:15:510:15:54

I've drawn my fish, but now I'm drawing a couple of little reeds.

0:15:540:15:59

My flat is a bit of a mess today and my mum was calling me

0:15:590:16:01

and having a go about having to tidy it up.

0:16:010:16:03

How are you guys at keeping your place tidy?

0:16:030:16:06

-You don't want to know.

-No.

-That makes me feel better.

0:16:060:16:09

What hasn't helped with my mess today is my dad's brought back

0:16:090:16:12

loads of my old toys and games.

0:16:120:16:15

OK, guys, do you want to see it so far?

0:16:150:16:17

-Yeah.

-Yes.

-OK. Here it is.

-Ooh.

0:16:170:16:21

-A fish.

-A fish in a fishbowl.

0:16:210:16:23

And my circular thing makes it into a fishbowl.

0:16:230:16:25

-But now's the cool bit, yeah?

-Cool bit.

0:16:250:16:29

I've got with me some paint and a roller.

0:16:290:16:33

Put some blue paint into it.

0:16:330:16:35

You need quite a lot.

0:16:350:16:38

You'll have fun when you do this. Right, here we go.

0:16:390:16:43

I'm just getting the roller all full of the paint.

0:16:430:16:46

There we go. Start rolling it on.

0:16:460:16:49

I'm just rolling it round now, over the fish.

0:16:490:16:53

Just be a little bit careful here not to go over the edges too much

0:16:530:16:56

and get it all over the top. I'm doing it in the kitchen as well,

0:16:560:16:59

so the surfaces are pretty easy to wipe clean.

0:16:590:17:02

'Make sure you put something down on your surface when you have a go.'

0:17:020:17:05

-OK, guys, I've got it all nice and covered.

-I want to see.

-Yeah.

0:17:050:17:08

I'm not going to show you yet. I'm going to print it then show you.

0:17:080:17:12

-BOTH: Aw!

-Right.

0:17:120:17:14

Printing, printing, printing.

0:17:140:17:16

Push it down, make sure all the paint comes off.

0:17:210:17:24

You turn it over as well.

0:17:240:17:25

Going to rub it on the back just to make sure you've got

0:17:250:17:29

all the shape of the whole picture.

0:17:290:17:31

-Come on!

-OK, guys, we're going to peel it off now.

0:17:310:17:34

Drum roll, please.

0:17:340:17:36

Have to be quite quick, otherwise the paint dries to the paper.

0:17:360:17:39

Here we go. Oh, yeah. I think you are going to like this.

0:17:410:17:45

-Are you ready to see it?

-BOTH: Yeah.

-OK, guys, what do you think of this?

0:17:450:17:51

-That's awesome.

-It's amazing.

0:17:520:17:54

So, guys, what would you score it?

0:17:540:17:57

BOTH: Erm, probably... Yeah.

0:17:570:18:00

110%!

0:18:000:18:03

110%? That's not even possible.

0:18:030:18:05

'I know that and I'm not even a maths ninja.'

0:18:050:18:08

Right, let's give it a little frame.

0:18:080:18:11

Great bit of art.

0:18:130:18:16

My fishbowl picture made on a pizza base.

0:18:160:18:19

See if you could top that.

0:18:190:18:21

Thanks very much for your help today. Bye-bye.

0:18:210:18:23

-BOTH: Bye, Ricky!

-I can finally eat.

0:18:230:18:27

Do you know what? You can do art everywhere.

0:18:290:18:32

Check this out.

0:18:320:18:34

MUSIC: Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky

0:19:010:19:05

Now, there you are - my cupcake ballerina.

0:19:050:19:07

I'm sure you can do something equally as tasty.

0:19:070:19:10

-DOORBELL RINGS

-Oh, hey, Gav.

0:19:100:19:12

-Hello, mate. What's all this then?

-Oh, it's just a box of my old trash.

0:19:120:19:16

I remember this. You loved him.

0:19:160:19:18

You took him, like, everywhere with you.

0:19:180:19:21

You did stop that eventually though. Last year.

0:19:210:19:24

-Yeah, all right. Give me that.

-Oh! Can I borrow this?

0:19:240:19:27

I used to be pretty nippy on a pogo stick.

0:19:270:19:29

-Mate, be my guest. You know, hop off.

-See you then.

0:19:290:19:33

Gavin's talents run deep

0:19:340:19:36

and here's a quick art tip that will add depth to your work.

0:19:360:19:39

I'm going to start by drawing a horizon line

0:19:390:19:42

and I'm going to draw some little mountains over the side.

0:19:420:19:46

As they're far in the distance, maybe some snow on top

0:19:460:19:50

and some up here.

0:19:500:19:52

The further things are away the smaller they are, so even though

0:19:520:19:55

the mountains are huge, they're quite small in the distance.

0:19:550:19:58

I'm going to draw some animals just below the horizon line.

0:19:580:20:01

I'm making this sheep quite big at the front of the picture,

0:20:010:20:04

so it appears near to us, and I'm going to draw another sheep

0:20:040:20:07

midway between the first sheep and the mountains.

0:20:070:20:10

As things move backwards, they get closer to the horizon line.

0:20:100:20:14

Now I'm going to do some little shrubs of grass,

0:20:140:20:17

bigger at the front, getting smaller to the back.

0:20:170:20:23

There. The different-sized objects have given my picture depth.

0:20:240:20:28

There's a quick art tip.

0:20:290:20:31

See what you can do.

0:20:330:20:35

Ewe, get it? Female sheep.

0:20:350:20:37

Hey, you there!

0:20:410:20:45

Oh, this guy's odd and his style sucks.

0:20:450:20:48

-Do you have odd socks?

-I said sucks!

0:20:480:20:51

Odd socks suck but they don't have to any more

0:20:510:20:54

because you can turn them into the sock ninja.

0:20:540:20:58

Here's how you make it. Eugh!

0:21:000:21:04

Stuff cotton wool in an old sock and use hair bands or elastic bands

0:21:040:21:08

to keep it in and make a head for your sock ninja.

0:21:080:21:13

Cut out the heel of your sock.

0:21:130:21:16

Keep that - you'll need it later.

0:21:160:21:19

Make some slices for the body and the arms and use a needle

0:21:200:21:24

and thread to sew them, stuffing with cotton wool as you go.

0:21:240:21:29

Secure the hands with bands.

0:21:310:21:34

Hello there!

0:21:350:21:37

Cut, sew and stuff the other half of the sock to make legs

0:21:370:21:41

and then sew them on.

0:21:410:21:44

Very springy.

0:21:440:21:46

Using felt, cut out shapes to add detail and use glue

0:21:480:21:51

to attach them to your ninja.

0:21:510:21:54

Stick on eyes, headband...

0:21:550:22:00

..ears, mouth and sash to complete the full ninja effect.

0:22:010:22:09

The sock ninja makes a great toy.

0:22:110:22:14

Now you no longer have to throw your odd socks.

0:22:150:22:18

Unless you're using them as a ball of course.

0:22:190:22:23

That looks fun. Where can I get one?

0:22:230:22:26

Those 3D tellies are good these days.

0:22:270:22:30

I wonder if Gav's up for a laugh.

0:22:300:22:33

I'll go and find him. What's that, Skippy?

0:22:330:22:36

You want to come too? All right.

0:22:360:22:39

-Ninja skills. How you doing, guys?

-Hey, Ricky.

0:22:470:22:51

Rick, look! I've got pretty good at this pogo stick I borrowed

0:22:510:22:54

and I got Michelle and Sarah involved as well.

0:22:540:22:57

There's only one thing for it. Let's have a pogo party.

0:22:570:23:00

Oh, no!

0:23:110:23:13

Oh. This gives me an idea.

0:23:130:23:16

Let's make this pogo party arty.

0:23:160:23:19

But first, we need to get our ninja on.

0:23:190:23:22

Art Ninja. Come on, guys.

0:23:290:23:32

-Art Ninja?

-Art Ninja?

0:23:340:23:36

Right, come on, guys. Give me a hand with this tarp. Roll it out.

0:23:380:23:42

-Ah, we're kicking then.

-We're kicking it.

0:23:420:23:45

-Oh, is this our canvas?

-It is our canvas.

0:23:500:23:53

-Right. Who wants to help me put one of these together?

-Let's do it.

0:23:530:23:57

-We need to make our customised brushes.

-Right.

0:23:580:24:02

And we're doing this by actually attaching a little sponge

0:24:020:24:05

on the bottom of our pogo sticks.

0:24:050:24:07

We're going to be putting paint out on this board,

0:24:070:24:10

dipping these bad boys in it and then painting our picture.

0:24:100:24:13

-So safety first, guys. Go run and get your helmets.

-OK. Sweet.

0:24:130:24:16

OK, guys. I'm going to show you how a ninja does it.

0:24:180:24:22

-That is so cool.

-That looks rad.

0:24:260:24:30

Hey, Ricks, what do you call this technique?

0:24:300:24:33

Well, painting pictures with dots is called pointillism

0:24:330:24:36

but as I'm using a pogo stick I'd really like to call it pogoism.

0:24:360:24:40

Pick a colour each.

0:24:430:24:45

Splat it out on your board and let's start painting.

0:24:450:24:48

-PAINT SQUELCHES

-You're like you're enjoying that.

0:24:480:24:52

Yeah, Gavin, yeah!

0:24:520:24:54

-Now splat! And let's po-go!

-THEY CHEER

0:24:560:24:59

So, Gavin, just start filling in this area here. OK.

0:25:020:25:06

OK, you're going to come along here.

0:25:070:25:09

If you could try and just accent that a little bit.

0:25:090:25:12

I think the painting's really coming together.

0:25:120:25:15

I wonder if they know what it is yet.

0:25:150:25:18

It's kind of obvious, with all the hopping.

0:25:180:25:21

Right, we're nearly there, guys. We are nearly there.

0:25:240:25:27

There's no need to pogo any further.

0:25:280:25:31

I think we have a masterpiece on our hands.

0:25:310:25:34

-Or more like beneath our feet.

-Awesome.

-Yeah.

0:25:340:25:38

Yeah, that's more like it. Check it out.

0:25:380:25:40

-It's amazing! Nice, man.

-That's awesome. Really cool.

-Wicked.

0:25:400:25:44

This is one of my favourite pieces.

0:25:500:25:52

Inspired by my only childhood friend, Skippy the kangaroo.

0:25:560:26:01

-Aw!

-Oh, look at him.

0:26:010:26:03

This is all for you then, old Skip, mate. What do you think?

0:26:030:26:07

You think it's rubbish? I think you're rubbish, you...

0:26:080:26:12

-HE GRUNTS

-I'm going to have words with you.

0:26:120:26:15

Remember you did a drawing of me I said was a perfect likeness?

0:26:150:26:18

Well, it was rubbish...

0:26:180:26:20

I can't believe the cheek of that kangaroo.

0:26:260:26:29

Well, that's that. Time to get back to the flat.

0:26:330:26:35

You didn't really think I'd get rid of him, did you?

0:26:490:26:52

I was just throwing away the old paint.

0:26:520:26:54

Today has taught me a valuable Art Ninja lesson

0:26:540:26:58

- you can turn your old trash into art treasure,

0:26:580:27:01

but pogoing brings both pain and pleasure.

0:27:010:27:04

I don't know about you, Skip, but I'm ready for my kip.

0:27:050:27:09

You're one toy I could never throw out.

0:27:090:27:11

Night, Skippy.

0:27:130:27:15

Night, Ricky.

0:27:150:27:17

ARRGH!
