Today she's very excited because it's Save An Animal Day at school

-and we have to choose an animal.

We'll have to talk to Lotta and Marv,

because we all have to choose the same animal together.

Which animal did you pick last year, Marv?

Whales. We raised money to help save whales.

You know, I would be really absolutely extremely good

at saving a whale.

What about a little small baby polar bear?

Oh, we can save them too.

It's like making sure they don't end up extinct.

EXTINCT means no more of that animal left in the whole entire world.

Mrs Finch told us it's also very important that animals live happily

in their own special homes.

Some people catch turtles to make jewellery out of their shells.

And, in Africa,

some people chase rhinoceroses to steal their horns.

Oh, no!

There's not many of these parrots left in Mexico

because people keep on chopping their trees down.

Mrs Finch says they're all called endangered animals.

So all these turtles, rhinoceroses and parrots are extremely in danger?

We definitely must help.

But that's what we're doing.

We're helping animals by getting money for them.

-Are we going to buy them a present?

The money we raise helps build special places for them to live

where they'll be safe.

Like a big wildlife park.

Look over there!

Look, there's a snowy leopard!

A parrot! Ooh!

Look, a rhino!

And sometimes they can even make underwater parks

where the turtles and fish can swim safely too.

There's lots of ways to help endangered animals.

How many endangered animals are there?

Loads, but we have to choose just one.

There's a snowy leopard here that's endangered.

So is the moon jellyfish.

And the brown pelican.

-OH, NO!

-Ssshhh!

I can't shush. This is a panda in danger, Charlie.

What does it say?

Giant pandas live in China.

They're really shy.

They eat bamboo.

And they eat it all day long.

They only stop eating when they go to sleep, actually.

Yes, but people are cutting down all their bamboo.

There are less than 1,000 pandas left in the whole world.

And one day they might disappear completely!

-Oh!

-Hmm!

-Ooh!

I like pandas.

I think I would like to save a panda.

-Oh, yeah.

Did you know that, although pandas are really big,

they're very good at doing somersaults?

What's a sponsored?

You have to get your mum and dad and relatives and friends

to put their name on a form to promise to give us money

for doing something difficult like, er...

like swimming maybe five lengths!

But I don't do swimming yet.

Or eating spaghetti with your hands behind your back.

Or staying quiet for a very long time.
