Woolly Welcome Clangers

Planet Earth.

From here, it looks fine and still.

But if we peeked

beneath those clouds,

we'd find busy people, like you and me,

working together, helping each other get things done.

And out here in space,

I wonder if there are other creatures doing the same.

Like the Hoots on the Hoot planet,

where they work together to play wonderful music.

It looks like they're about to pay a visit to the Clangers' planet.

How neighbourly!

There's Tiny Clanger.

She's teaching the music trees a new song.

I have to say, it's very catchy.

Even Major can't help singing along.

It looks like they're preparing for a celebration.

Oh, careful, Major!

Ooh, that was close.

Small and Baby Soup Dragon are sorry

they stopped Tiny practising her catchy new tune.

Ah, Granny is running low on wool.

She's asked Small to fetch her some more.

That should keep them out of trouble.

Ah, here we are.

Lots of wool.

Hmm. Looks like Baby Soup Dragon still wants to play.

Well, maybe one last quick chase.

This quick game appears to be going on for rather a long time.

Ah, yes. Blue string pudding.

Small and Baby Soup Dragon are feeling a bit peckish.

I'm not surprised, after all that running around!

They must find someplace to sit and enjoy their blue string pudding.

WHOOSHING

Oh, I say!

Huh?

WHOOSHING

Ah, yes! Small has been here before.

This curious tunnel leads directly to the surface,

like a sort of super-speedy short cut.

THEY GIGGLE

Hmm. Seems they've forgotten all about the blue string pudding.

Let's just hope they haven't forgotten about Granny's wool.

Mother and Major have hung the first piece of bunting. Well done!

Oh, look! Small and Baby Soup Dragon's blue string pudding!

That'll be the second piece.

Where could Baby Soup Dragon be?

Yes. I thought as much.

Small's been so busy playing, he's forgotten all about Granny's wool.

DISTANT MUSIC

Oh, dear. The Hoots are almost here.

They need to get that wool to Granny.

Small has had an idea, but he'd better be quick.

WHOOSHING

A-ha! Small is going to send the wool up through the curious tunnel.

That way it'll get to Granny on the surface in super-quick time.

Goodbye, wool!

How clever!

Hopefully, they'll get to Granny just in time.

Tiny is relieved that her tune is ready.

It's a welcoming tune for the Hoots' visit.

But Granny's bunting won't be ready.

She's completely run out of wool.

Doesn't look like Small's plan has worked.

Mother wants to know if Small has got Granny's wool.

Small tells Mother that he sent the ball up through the curious tunnel.

The Clangers haven't come across a single ball.

Small is so sorry.

He should have brought the wool straight to Granny

rather than playing.

But where could the wool have got to?

TOOT-PARP-TOOT-PARP!

Oh, my! What a time for the Hoot planet to arrive!

Yes, something up there doesn't sound right at all.

Hmm... Something is certainly amiss.

Small thinks they mustn't be impressed

with the half-finished bunting.

That's why they are only playing a half-finished tune.

Major's spotted something. He wants Small to take a look.

Would you believe it?!

The curious tunnel must have sent the balls of wool

flying so high they stuck in the Hoots' horns.

Well, this welcome hasn't gone to plan at all.

Hmm. Small has asked Tiny to play her new song.

What is Small up to?

Again, Tiny's tune is so catchy, the others can't help but join in.

The Hoots can never resist a new tune.

They're playing along, even if some of their notes are missing.

Small want Tiny to play louder.

Even the singing flowers are getting in on the act.

So THAT was Small's plan -

to get the Hoots to blow and blow

until the balls of wool popped out.

What a clever young Clanger!

Now it makes sense.

The Clangers were going to so much trouble

because Little Hoot was coming to stay.

You see, Small Clanger made a mistake.

But he worked together with his family and friends

to make things right.

And, thanks to him,

everyone will remember the day Little Hoot came to visit,

and everyone will remember the day it rained wool.
