Puffball Clangers

There's the Earth, our home.

It's a busy place.

Some people like to keep busy by inventing contraptions

to make us smarter and faster and better than ever before,

and perhaps out here in space,

there are creatures doing exactly the same sort of thing.

But, not there, not on the Clangers' planet.

Surely that's one place where no-one minds about who's the smartest

or the fastest or the best?

Let's go closer and find out.

There's Tiny Clanger and Small Clanger, playing cotton ball.

Uh-oh, that cotton ball's not coming back down again!

It's gone right up into space.

And it's the third one Small's knocked into space today!

Maybe he shouldn't hit them so hard.

THEY CONVERSE

Oh! He's done it again!

Small's off to get some more balls.

Here come some Froglets.

They're keen to play a chasing game.

Small wanted to join in their game, but he's too slow.

Too slow on his big, flappy Clanger feet.

He's decided he needs something to make him faster, an invention.

There's Major Clanger, busy tinkering away in his workshop.

BUZZING

Yes, what is Small up to?!

Oh, I see.

Small wants to make the soup trolley into a sort of racing car...

..powered by air fruit. Hm!

No, Major doesn't think that's a good idea.

It might be dangerous.

Ah.

Small thinks that if he can't zoom around like Tiny,

then perhaps he could bounce about like the Froglets.

Hm, well, it's quite bouncy.

Now, that's much more bouncy!

Hm... Oh!

Another one?

I don't know if this is a good idea!

BOING!

What's that noise?

It's Small, on his enormous puffball.

And he's faster than Tiny and bouncier than the Froglets!

Oh, no!

He's bounced so high he's gone right up into space,

just like those cotton balls!

And now he's orbiting the Clangers' planet! Oh, dear!

What a calamity.

Here's Major. He wants to know what's going on.

Aha. It looks like Tiny and Major have a plan.

Oh, but it hasn't worked! Oh, dear!

The cloud!

Yes, perhaps the cloud can help.

Hm. But then again, perhaps not.

MOOING

A sky moo. Yes! A sky moo. Perhaps...

Well, anything's worth a try.

MOOING CONTINUES

Thank goodness for that.

Yes, it's a complete success.

Major's very pleased that Small is safe and sound.

But he doesn't want Small making any more silly inventions.

That's Major's job!

Tiny's offering Small a ride on her trike.

How kind!

But Small doesn't care any more about being the fastest.

He's simply happy just to stay on the ground

and play with Tiny and the others

on his big, flappy, lovely Clanger feet.
