Leeks have really long leaves.

To pick a leek, you just pull it out of the soil.

You don't eat the hairy roots,

and you have to give them a good wash,

because dirt gets caught between the leaves.

And they have lots of leaves!

It's easy to grow leeks.

They start as really tiny seeds.

You can make a groove in the soil,

sow the seeds in a line,

cover them up with dirt,

and give them a gentle water.
