It looks like it's going to rain.

Twinkle doesn't like flying in the rain.

We'll have to find today's passengers by ourselves.

A-ha! Can you see who that is?

We've been splashing in the puddles.

We love playing in the rain.

Oh, it's stopped. Ooooh!

It's so pretty. Look at all the colours.

Rainbows sometimes come out when the sun shines after rain.

It's so lovely, Driver Dan.

-Let's paint a picture of it.

-Yeah!

Right, let's start painting. Oh.

-Hey, look, the rainbow's fading away.

-How are we going to paint it now?

We can still paint a rainbow.

We just need to remember what colours are in it.

I know. It definitely had red in it.

I know, I know! Orange. I can do the orange.

Well done. Now you just need to remember

the other five colours in a rainbow.

I know! Yellow. Yellow, that's one.

Very good. What other colours can you remember?

Red, orange, yellow...green.

It's a dark blue called indigo.

It's a tricky one to remember, isn't it? And there it is.

Oh, you know what, I can't remember what it is either,

but let's go and look for the missing colour.

Oh, hello, Tallulah. We were just about to come looking for you.

-Were we?

-Yes.

Tallulah is very good at remembering things,

like missing colours in rainbows, perhaps.

Oh, Tallulah, did you see the rainbow today?

What rainbow? I was having a nap, I didn't see a rainbow.

-Oh.

-Oh.

-Hmm.

I'm sorry I can't help you.

It's OK, Tallulah.

I think Driver Dan has had an idea.

-Perfect.

-See?

Tallulah, would you mind showing us a jumbo jet?

Er...OK, Driver Dan.

OK, Tallulah - ready, steady, jumbo jet, go!

The water from Tallulah's jumbo jet was like the rain shower,

and what happens when there's sunshine after rain?

A rainbow!

Quick, look! What colours can we see?

Red, orange, yellow.

Green, blue, indigo.

And purple.

Purple is the missing colour. You paint it, Tallulah.

Purple, it's purple!

Well done, everyone, and in a rainbow

that purple is called violet.

Hooray! We found the missing colour.

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet make a rainbow.

And what a lovely rainbow it is! Come on, everybody.

-It's time to go on the Story Train to Story Corner.

-Let's go!

-'We're going to have a story.

-Maybe one about rainbows.

-Or sunny days.

'Yeah!'

-Who's ready for a story, then?

Oh, yes, Driver Dan.

I was thinking maybe... a-ha.

I know just the book.

-Is everyone settled down and ready to listen?

-Yes.

-Hooray!

-Story-time!

And all of you. Sitting down comfy and ready to listen?

'Ready, Driver Dan.'

This story is called Speedy Socks.

It was written by Dima alKhawajah

and the pictures are by Zeina Moedad.

Debo was wondering what to do with his day.

He couldn't decide between watching TV, nibbling a few snacks,

or, ooh, having a nice little nap.

Debo didn't mind what he did,

just as long as it didn't mean moving off the comfy sofa.

"Debo," called his mum.

"You promised to help paint the fence."

"Oh, all right," yawned Debo reluctantly, and he trudged slowly

into the bedroom to put on his shoes and socks.

"I'm coming!"

But when Debo opened his drawer, he got the biggest surprise!

There, in front of him,

was a fantastic rainbow-coloured pair of socks.

"Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet!"

cried Debo excitedly.

"Wow!" And he pulled the rainbow socks onto his feet.

Rainbow socks, look!

Before he had time to put on his shoes,

he felt a strange tingling in his toes, and suddenly Debo

was jogging across the hallway, down the stairs and out into the garden.

"Hey, what's going on?" laughed Debo.

Debo's cousins were playing with a skipping rope.

In no time, Debo had jumped into the game.

Higher and higher and higher he jumped.

Debo's brother was on his skateboard, and, before he knew it,

Debo had hopped on and was doing stunts.

Faster and faster and faster he flipped.

Wow!

Soon, Debo was painting the fence.

Quicker and quicker and quicker he went.

Then he was helping gather apples.

More and more and more he picked.

He joined a game of basketball.

Up and down and up and down he bounced.

And then he was dancing with his sisters.

Round and round and round he twirled.

-I like dancing.

-Me too!

Until, suddenly, Debo was startled by his mum's voice.

"Come on, Debo, are you ready?"

Debo came down to Earth with a bump.

He realised that it had all been a dream

and he was still sitting on the sofa with no rainbow socks on his feet.

"Oh," he thought glumly.

"Racing round seemed to be good fun."

The family couldn't believe their eyes

when Debo came racing out of the house.

"Are you feeling all right, Debo?" asked his mum worriedly.

"Never felt better!" said Debo happily, picking up the paint brush

and finishing the fence in a flash.

"Now, who's for a game of basketball?"

-The end. Did you enjoy that story?

-Oh, yes, Driver Dan.

I wish I had some speedy rainbow socks like Debo's.
