It's story time.

This story is called Go, Mandy, Go.

It was written by Andrew Birtley, pictures are by Kate Hindley.

Mandy loved to splash, but she couldn't really swim.

She really liked to race, but she didn't ever win.

-A bit like me today, Driver Dan. I couldn't win either.

-Yes, Precious.

She couldn't hold a tune like the larks and thrushes could,

or jump up really high like the hares and tree frogs would.

She was no good at ping-pong, she couldn't hit the ball.

And skateboarding and football

-were not her thing at all.

-Oh, no.

She was a fan of baking, but she always burnt the cakes.

And when she rode her bike, she forgot to use the brakes.

You should teach her to bake, Sweetie. You never burn your cakes.

Cartwheels looked lovely, but were rather hard to do.

So were splits and handstands and roly-polys too.

-We love cartwheels, don't we, Lilly?

-Yes, we do, Milly.

"Oh, dear," said Mandy, finally, "I can't race, or bake, or sing,

"I can't jump, or skate, or ride, I can't swim or anything.

"But it doesn't really matter, I don't mind not being top.

"I don't mind anything,

"as long as I can bop."

For when it came to dancing, Mandy outdid the rest

because her disco dancing was, by far, the very best!
