OK, the new pots are ready,

Aha, I know just the book.

Is everybody settled down and ready to listen?

We're all ready to listen, Driver Dan.

And all of you, sitting down comfy and ready to listen?

Ready, Driver Dan.

This story is called Mia's Time To Shine.

Nathalie G Habib wrote it and the pictures are by Joelle Achkar.

It was the morning of the Roseville ball

and Mia the butterfly excitedly opened the doors of her boutique.

It was her busiest day of the year.

For every year, everyone flocked to Mia's store

to buy her beautiful gowns, hats and waistcoats,

all made from the freshest flower petals,

exquisitely stitched together.

Everyone has been busy with flowers today.

They have, haven't they, Sweetie?

Mia watched her customers happily.

The butterflies fluttered about in dresses

that matched the colours of their wings.

Grasshoppers hopped about in handsome hats and bow ties,

while the bumblebees buzzed about choosing the smartest jackets.

Each year, Mia promised herself

that if there was a dress left at the end of the day,

she would wear it and go to the ball herself,

but there was never anything left for Mia

so Mia had never ever been to the ball.

Aw! Poor Mia.

This year was no different.

At the end of the day, there wasn't a single thing left on the racks.

Mia gave a little sigh.

"Never mind," she said to her friends, the silkworms.

"Maybe next year."

"It's not fair," said the silkworms to one another.

"Mia works so hard to get everyone else ready

"she never has time to make anything for herself!"

And so the silkworms gathered the freshest sparkly silver rose petals

and worked quickly and quietly, stitching and sewing.

Maybe they need someone to invent a bigger, faster sewing machine.

Maybe they need you, Bippity.

When Mia came to close up the shop, they held out a wonderful surprise.

It was a beautifully stitched silver rose petal gown.

"How am I ever going to thank you?"

Asked Mia, clapping her hands in delight

as she slipped the silver gown around her.

"Thank us later," laughed her friends, or we'll all miss the ball.

The Roseville ball was a great success.

There was fine food and delightful dancing,

and all the creatures looked magnificent,

twirling about the dancefloor, dressed in Mia's stunning outfits.

But no one enjoyed the ball more than hard-working Mia,

shining like a star in her sparkly silver rose petal gown.

And busy bees, buzz buzz, bip-bip!
