Today we're going to practise being in goal.

Who knows what a goalkeeper, or a goalie, does?

If someone is trying to kick the ball they have to save it.

Well done! The goalkeeper tries to stop the ball from going in the goal

so they're very important. Have any of you ever been a goalkeeper?

Cos we're going to practise being in goal today

so you don't need to be scared. OK?

There are three things we need to remember to get into

the goal-ready position. We need to make ourself look big

so we fill up the goal. We need to look, keep our eyes on the ball.

And we need to move to get in line with the ball

so it can't go into our goal. Do you want to try it with me?

-ALL:

-Yes!

-OK, let's make ourself big.

Look, so we can see where that ball is. Look.

And we need to move to get in line with the ball.

We don't want to let them score.

Right, I've set up some cones.

We're going to practise our goalkeeping.

I need you to make yourself really, really big

To be a good goalie you need to be in the goal-ready position.

First, make yourself big to fill the goal.

Look at where the ball is and move around.

Now we've practised our goal-ready position we're going to challenge

ourself by stretching really low and really high

cos you never know where the ball's going to come from.

Off you go, Marcus. Good, make yourself big, Marcus. Well done.

To play this game you need to work in teams of three.

A Bird from one team needs to stand in goal

ready to defend their nest and not let in any balls.

GIGGLING

A Bird from the other team needs to slalom around the cones

until they make it to the football.

You take a shot at the goal

and the goalkeeper must try to stop the ball.

Once you've taken a shot at goal, run back to your team-mate,

high-five one of them and then it's their turn to have a go.

The winners of this game will be the team that saves the most balls.

Woof-woof!
