Hello, everyone. Squiglet here.

It sounded like footsteps,

but very loud ones,

the kind a giant would make.

I know a boy who's had trouble with a giant.

His name's Jack.

Shall we squiggle him?

What sort of line could we use?

Let's have a look.

It's a straight line.

Have you got your Squiggle Pads

and Squiggle Sticks ready?

Let's get squiggling!

Let's start with Jack's hat.

We'll need a straight line for that.

Straight lines are great. Squiggle one with me.

Across, and across.

What's yours like?

Across, and across.

Now we need a curved line for the top of his hat.

Curve up, and over.

Let's squiggle another curved line for Jack's head.

Curve down, round, and up.

He needs two eyes. One, two.

A nose, a big smiley mouth...

..and two ears.

One, two.

Now some straight lines for Jack's body.

Down, across, and up.

Then a curved line here.

He needs two arms with wiggly fingers.

One...

..two.

And legs. One...

..two.

Why don't we add a feather in his cap as well?

And there's Jack. Shall we meet him?

Hello, Jack. I'm Squiglet.

Are you OK?

Oh, I'm really tired, Squiglet.

A giant lives on the cloud above our house.

He keeps me and my mum awake all the time with his loud footsteps.

Oh, dear.

But I'm going to go up there, and ask him to be quiet.

Good idea, Jack.

But how will you get up into the clouds?

Well, Mum sent me to the market to buy a big ladder.

I was on my way, but I got lost.

Don't worry. We can squiggle the market stall for you.

Let's get squiggling!

We'll start with the outside of the stall.

We can use some straight lines for that.

Ready?

Up, across,

down, and back across.

And a round line for a wheel.

Round, and round.

Let's give it a counter.

Two straight lines. Across,

and across.

It needs a handle.

Across, and back.

Then a leg underneath.

Three straight lines under the counter.

One, two, three.

And a bumpy line to make a pretty awning.

Finished! One market stall.

Why don't you colour yours in while I squiggle the rest of the market?

That sounds like just the stall Jack needs, doesn't it?

Hello, Larry. I'd like a very tall ladder, please.

Oh, sorry, but we're all out of ladders at the moment.

Oh, no. I need one to get up in the clouds.

Don't worry.

I HAVE got these beans.

I don't think a handful of beans

will get Jack up into the clouds, do you?

Ah, but these are magic beans.

If you plants them, they'll grow into a huge beanstalk,

that reaches right into the sky!

Wow! Even better than a ladder!

I'll take them!

Hi, Mum. This is Squiglet.

Nice to meet you, Squiglet, but where's the ladder, Jack?

I got these magic beans instead.

Oh, Jack! How are a handful of beans

going to get you up to the cloud to ask that giant to be quiet?

Don't worry, Mum. When I plant them,

they'll grow into an enormous beanstalk for me to climb. Watch!

Oh, see!

Oh, no! It's stopped!

Oh, Jack!

Oh, now I've upset Mum,

and I can't get up to the cloud on this tiny beanstalk.

Don't be sad, Jack.

Perhaps the beanstalk just needs watering.

Yes!

Oh, but we haven't got a watering can.

No problem. We can squiggle you one.

Have you got your Squiggle Pads,

and Squiggle Sticks ready?

Let's get squiggling!

We can use some more straight lines for the sides of the watering can.

Ready?

Across, down,

across, and up.

Now we need a spout where the water comes out.

Up, and down.

Then curve round, and across.

A handle on top.

Curve up, around, and down.

And another curve.

For the side handle, two more curved lines.

I'm colouring my watering can in yellow.

What colour are you going to make yours?

Finished! One watering can.

Oh, thanks, everyone!

Wow!

Oh, it worked!

Now it's time to talk to that noisy giant.

Come on!

Hello! You've come to see me. Thanks!

Er, that's OK.

I live in a house underneath your cloud,

and you're so noisy, you keep me and my mum awake.

It's because I usually play by myself.

But Jack's here now.
