Well, this morning when I woke up, I couldn't open my eye.

It felt like it was stuck.

-You mean they were a bit sticky and crusty?

Mum had to wash my eye with cotton wool balls so I could open it up.

You've got something called conjunctivitis.

Junky-vitis? That's a strange name.

It is a long word, isn't it?

It means your eyes and eyelids are a bit red and itchy.

Yes, they are. Really, really itchy.

These eye drops will make it feel better.

If it's OK with you, I can pop a drop in your eye to show you.

They're so important because they keep out all the germs and dirt.

Petal! Remember, it isn't wise to rub your eyes.

Conjunctivitis can spread really easily.

You might spread it to your other eye

or give it to your mum or your brother.

-I don't want to give them junky-vitis.

-That's right.

Here's the treatment I recommend.

Be very careful about washing your hands.

Keep them as clean as you can

and try to keep them away from your eyes.

Here are drops for your mum to put in your eye to help it get better.

And I want you to have your own towel at home.

Don't share your towel until your eye's better.

-How long will that be?

-You should be much better in a few days.
