Today we're talking about body image, feeling good about
the way you look, and the pressure to look a certain way.
But what exactly is body image?
Body image is how you see yourself.
It's how you imagine other people see you.
A negative body image is when you don't feel good about yourself and
you focus too much on what you don't like and forget to enjoy the
things you do.
A positive body image is when you're confident and
comfortable with who you are and how you look.
Sometimes you can feel both. Some positive and some negative.
It's easy to compare ourselves to others,
and that can make us feel down.
Let's not forget the other important things that make us great.
-It's what's inside that counts.
I used to go online and look up ways to look different.
I once went on a diet because I wanted to look thin and
pretty like the people I saw on TV.
I realised that wasn't the answer and stopped.
I know I need to focus on my good qualities instead of changing,
although I quite fancy changing my hair colour to a rainbow.
PHONE BEEPS OFF
I think I need a new look. The gross look is so over.
Look, it's important to express yourself by trying new things,
but you still need to be gross.

Give me a G! Give me an R! Give me an A!
Give me a C! Give me an E!
But I like your look. It's so you.
When I watch programmes, it can make me feel quite discouraged,
as all the teenage boys are just really muscular.
My body isn't like that at all.
I'm just normal, and I know my body is fine and that everyone is
different, and that nobody is perfect.
PHONE BEEPS OFF
As you get older, it's natural to be aware of your body and be
concerned about how you look.
Sometimes the pressure to look a certain way can be hard to
deal with, and that can make you feel awkward,
self-conscious or uncomfortable in your own skin.
We should all try to..
because they're part of who we are.
Be kind to yourself and look after your body, and if you're not,
Instead of putting yourself down, be your own best friend.
-You look a bit silly today.
-I said, "You look rubbish today."
You wouldn't say anything mean to other people,
so why would you say it to me? You are me. I'm not listening.
I am who I am, and I'm happy with that.
'My favourite feature about myself is my smile.'
-My bright blue eyes.
-I don't need to reach to get things off the top shelf.
-I love my hair.
-'I love your stripy tail.'
# You are you and I am me
# That's pretty cool, wouldn't you agree?
# Now there's no point comparing ourselves
# To the people we see on TV
# Oh, can you imagine the whole world
# Filled with only one kind of person
# That sounds pretty boring
# So I'm going to spend the rest of my day
# Being wonderful, fantastic
# Terrific and capable me. #
That's all for this Lifebabble.
Remember, there's loads more on the CBBC website.
So love the skin you're in as well as what's within, and keep babbling.
