Little Big Cat!

0:00:270:00:28

Hello! Or "Jambo", as we say here.

0:00:340:00:36

Welcome to the wide, grassy plains of Africa

0:00:380:00:43

and a very special place called the Masai Mara.

0:00:430:00:47

This is home to all of our Little Big Cats!

0:00:490:00:52

And it's a land full of stories.

0:00:520:00:55

The Masai Mara is a huge, grassy wildlife park.

0:00:550:01:00

Its name comes from the long, winding Mara river,

0:01:010:01:04

which runs through it.

0:01:040:01:06

Lots of the animals here enjoy the river.

0:01:060:01:10

The zebra have called in for an early-morning drink.

0:01:100:01:15

They do look very thirsty!

0:01:150:01:17

The scary crocodiles love the water

0:01:190:01:22

and spend lots of time swimming the river rapids.

0:01:220:01:27

While the wildebeests leap, dive and swim to the other side.

0:01:270:01:32

The river provides adventures for all of the animals.

0:01:340:01:38

But which of our Little Big Cats will be dipping their paw

0:01:390:01:43

in the water today?

0:01:430:01:45

Will it be the la-a-azy lions?

0:01:450:01:50

The speedy cheetahs?

0:01:500:01:52

Or the lonesome leopards?

0:01:540:01:56

It's my story!

0:02:000:02:02

It's Kali's story!

0:02:020:02:04

Kali, the lion cub.

0:02:050:02:07

Jambo, Kali!

0:02:080:02:09

Jambo!

0:02:090:02:11

This is my family.

0:02:110:02:15

I'm so lucky to have so many brothers and sisters to play with.

0:02:160:02:21

Every day in the Masai Mara is great fun.

0:02:210:02:25

It's the best playground in the world.

0:02:250:02:29

While I'm so young, there's a lot for me to learn.

0:02:290:02:34

So, every day, Mama takes us all out on an adventure.

0:02:340:02:39

It's always a surprise for us,

0:02:410:02:44

and I love surprises!

0:02:440:02:46

I wonder what we'll be doing today.

0:02:470:02:50

Hey, Mama! What have you seen?

0:02:540:02:58

Oh, great!

0:02:590:03:00

A stream!

0:03:000:03:01

What a good place to practise our jumping!

0:03:030:03:06

I'm going to be brilliant at this.

0:03:060:03:09

After all, lions don't really like swimming.

0:03:090:03:13

Where's the best place to cross?

0:03:160:03:19

Mama, you'd better show us how to do it.

0:03:190:03:23

Wow! Mama's really good!

0:03:240:03:26

And so are my brothers and sisters.

0:03:290:03:32

I hope I'm as good as they are.

0:03:320:03:35

Yay! My turn!

0:03:370:03:39

Now, what did Mama say?

0:03:400:03:42

Weight on the back legs, and push really hard.

0:03:430:03:47

Here goes!

0:03:470:03:48

Ohhh!

0:03:490:03:51

How embarrassing.

0:03:510:03:53

I hope no one saw me...

0:03:530:03:56

I think I got away with it.

0:03:590:04:01

Phew!

0:04:010:04:03

Well, it was the first time I've ever tried to jump a stream.

0:04:030:04:07

I'm sure I'll get better.

0:04:070:04:09

I'll just have to keep on practising, until I'm as my brothers and sisters.

0:04:090:04:14

But right now, I can dry off here, while we run around and play.

0:04:140:04:19

Ooh! Ha-ha-ha!

0:04:220:04:24

GROWLS PLAYFULLY

0:04:250:04:27

Get off!

0:04:280:04:30

GIGGLES

0:04:330:04:35

Listen, everyone!

0:04:420:04:44

SHE ROARS

0:04:440:04:45

Mama's calling.

0:04:450:04:47

It's time for us to go.

0:04:490:04:51

I love these adventures with Mama!

0:04:550:04:58

The Masai Mara is a great place to explore.

0:04:580:05:02

You never know what you're going to find around the next corner.

0:05:020:05:07

It looks like Mama's found something!

0:05:070:05:10

I'm coming to have a look.

0:05:110:05:14

Hey...that looks strange.

0:05:140:05:18

It's like wobbly grass.

0:05:180:05:21

And it's in a hole!

0:05:210:05:22

Look at those little birds tippy-toeing on the funny grass.

0:05:240:05:28

That looks like a lot of fun!

0:05:300:05:32

They've got very bendy legs.

0:05:320:05:36

It is grass, isn't it?

0:05:380:05:40

It must be! Those birds are walking on it!

0:05:400:05:44

Stay there, little birds.

0:05:450:05:47

I'm coming to play! Here goes...

0:05:470:05:49

Another jump to practise! Ha!

0:05:490:05:52

SPLASH!

0:05:520:05:54

Eww...water!

0:05:540:05:56

It looks nothing like water!

0:05:560:06:00

GRUNT!

0:06:000:06:01

Uh-oh! There's a big hip... hippo...hippopotamus over there!

0:06:010:06:06

I don't think he wanted me to jump in his bath.

0:06:060:06:09

Is he still behind me?! Is someone looking out?

0:06:090:06:13

Oh, quick! Get me out of here!

0:06:130:06:15

Yeuch!

0:06:150:06:18

Oh, just a bit more...

0:06:190:06:21

somebody help me! Please!

0:06:210:06:25

Oh...

0:06:280:06:29

..I can't believe I'm soaking wet again!

0:06:300:06:33

Twice in one day!

0:06:330:06:36

Why is it always me?!

0:06:360:06:38

Oh, Kali.

0:06:410:06:42

His Mama thinks he's had enough of an adventure for one day.

0:06:420:06:47

It's time for them all to head home.

0:06:470:06:50

But they have to go back the same way they came,

0:06:500:06:54

which means Kali will have to jump the stream one more time.

0:06:540:06:58

I'll let my brothers and sisters go first.

0:07:040:07:07

That way, I can watch exactly what they do.

0:07:070:07:10

They are much bigger than me, and they have longer and stronger legs,

0:07:120:07:16

which is why they find it easy to jump the streams.

0:07:160:07:20

Here they go!

0:07:230:07:24

My legs will be that strong one day,

0:07:290:07:31

and until then, I'll keep on practising.

0:07:310:07:35

Right, the best thing is not to think about it.

0:07:350:07:39

I'm just going to jump.

0:07:390:07:41

Not think about it - just jump!

0:07:410:07:43

Yes!

0:07:450:07:46

I made it across without getting wet!

0:07:460:07:49

I knew I could do it!

0:07:490:07:51

Yippeeeee!

0:07:520:07:54

Mama! Did you see me?

0:07:550:07:58

Even though my legs are short,

0:07:580:08:00

I finally made it over the stream without getting wet!

0:08:000:08:04

KALI LAUGHS

0:08:040:08:05

What a great end to the day.

0:08:050:08:09

Kali kept trying, and practised jumping the stream.

0:08:090:08:12

Now, he can make it across without getting wet,

0:08:120:08:16

just like his brothers and sisters.

0:08:160:08:18

So, as Kali and his family settle down for the evening,

0:08:180:08:22

it's time for us to say goodbye.

0:08:220:08:24

Kwaheri! From the wide, grassy plains of Africa.

0:08:240:08:30

Goodbye, zebra!

0:08:300:08:32

Kwaheri, zebra!

0:08:320:08:34

Goodbye, crocodile.

0:08:360:08:39

Kwaheri, crocodile!

0:08:390:08:41

Goodbye, wildebeest.

0:08:420:08:45

Kwaheri, wildebeest.

0:08:450:08:48

Goodbye, lions.

0:08:480:08:51

Kwaheri, lions!

0:08:510:08:52

Goodbye, Kali.

0:08:550:08:57

Kwaheri!

0:08:580:09:00

Africa is a land full of stories.

0:09:010:09:04

Whose story will we hear next time?
