The Movies Matilda and the Ramsay Bunch

Hi, this is my life.

I love cooking.

They smell amazing.

My dad's a chef,

but I think I'm already better than him.

My name's Matilda Ramsay,

but people usually call me Tilly.

Mum, she wears the trousers and is the only one Dad's afraid of.

I'm not kissing you when you're like that.

Big sister Megan,

she's all grown up now

and craving to get on with life.

Jack. He's so good at sport,

he's going to be playing

for Britain soon.

This is Holly,

she is determined to be the greatest

fashion designer of her generation.

Dad, even though

he's hard on the outside,

he's soft and mushy on the inside.

And he's quite a good cook too.

Eh, excuse me, how about very?

Matilda...Matilda!

When you're the youngest, you have to fight to get noticed.

And that's why I love to cook up a storm.

This is my world.

Just let me taste a little slice, please.

This summer, the whole Ramsay bunch have

been in Los Angeles on our very own American adventure.

Oh, wow!

California is known as the Golden State

and it's certainly shining brightly for us.

We're loving the LA lifestyle.

Hey, hey, he's gone!

And most of all, I'm loving all the amazing food

that I'm cooking.

Tills, you have seriously found yourself a new job.

And I've been putting some of it on my food blog

for everyone back home to see.

Today, I'm cooking a feast of salmon parcels, dressed-up baked potatoes

and Matilda Award biscuits. My very own movie awards ceremony.

Los Angeles is the capital of the world's movie industry.

Everyone in my family loves movies.

Jack loves action films

and the girls enjoy anything romantic

and Dad, well, he loves a good laugh!

So the big question for movie night is...

I may be carrying out all my own stunts in the kitchen,

but in the movies the stars get a bit of help from stunt doubles.

Jack, Megan and Holly have gone to one of the top places

to learn how to be an action hero.

Jack's always wanted to be in a blockbuster fight scene,

he's going to love this.

Oh, my goodness.

It's so cool in here.

Morning, well come to 87eleven, I'm Jeremy.

We're here to learn a few cool stunts, if possible.

You've come to the right place.

The guys and girls here have

designed and performed stunts

in some of the best Hollywood action movies.

Recently, we just worked on Ninja Turtles.

Our friend Renae over here on the wire just

got done doubling Jennifer Lawrence on the Hunger Games.

Two and three...and four...and one.

-Cool, Katniss rules.

-Wow.

Why don't you guys come on over and we'll teach you a few things?

I hope I'm going to do good cos everyone else is amazing.

I'll let them have a little practice

behind the scenes and see how the Ramsay stunt crew get on later.

Wrapping everything up in paper and sealing it shut means that

nobody knows what they're having until they unwrap the envelope,

a bit like at awards ceremonies.

Plus, when it's cooking, none of the fantastic flavours can escape,

it's very clever.

First, chop the chives.

Chives are delicious.

They've got quite a funny taste to them,

but funny in a good way.

Then, it's parsley and tarragon.

It tastes and smells a little bit like liquorice.

It's quite nice having them to smell.

Now to make my secret award parcels with baking paper.

This will keep all the flavours in and it'll be really nice and juicy.

To salmon, add sliced lemon,

courgettes, leeks, peppers, herbs, and salt and pepper.'

You can definitely see it looks colourful.

And it's packed with goodness too.

Now to wrap up my parcels.

Bring it up, and folding it over once,

then again.

Then fold over the ends and staple them shut.

You're kind of making a bag for all your flavours,

so you're just sealing it.

You don't want to do it too tight

cos you want it to have some room to puff up.

This dish is going to be award-winning.

Put the parcels on an oven tray

and bake for...

The Ramsay crew are limbering up

for their first action-hero stunt battle.

So the first session we're going to do

is throw a few kicks and punches.

Being a stunt double is not about being the best fighter,

but looking like you are.

One, two, step back.

We're going to throw a front-kick.

The only thing you hit really hard is the air,

but to the camera it looks like a massive impact.

Pretty cool, yeah, to say the least.

That'll teach them to mess with the Ramsay bunch.

My salmon parcels are smelling amazing.

If you listen carefully, you can hear them a bit...

sizzling away.

Even the paper will be hot, so be super careful.

This is how I'm going to serve it. So it's a surprise when you open it.

I can't resist having a peek at one though...

Wow, I think it's looking really good.

I suppose you could say it's definitely like unwrapping

an envelope at an awards ceremony.

And the winner is...

Matilda's super salmon parcels.

APPLAUSE

The Ramsay stunt squad have learned to punch and kick,

now it's falling without hurting yourself.

And they're being taught by the real stunt Katniss, Renae.

You're going to start by putting

your wrist on the ground, elbow...

It's really cool. I want to be a stuntman.

So it's like this, you need to jump...

and roll. Action!

Perfect.

We should make our own action film.

And that's exactly what they're going to do,

but first I've got a plan to deal with the hunger games in our house

with my next dish.

My dressed-up baked potatoes

are the poshest, A-list potatoes you'll ever see.

I love baked potatoes,

but because they come from the ground,

you need to wash them really well.

First chop off the ends,

so when you serve them they'll stand up on the plate properly.

Cover them in olive oil.

Then...

Oh!

I bet that was Jack.

Where was I?

Oh, yes, pierce the potato

to release some of the air when they're cooking.

So they don't explode!

Add salt and pepper, then wrap them up in foil and pop them in the oven

for 40 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of your potatoes.

It's time to dress my potatoes.

Watch your hands because these spuds are piping hot.

I love baked potatoes,

especially when it's cold outside.

Chop the potatoes in half.

This is what I'm going to dress them in, it's gold paper.

So you could say it's almost like putting a dress around it.

Next add butter,

sour cream, chives

and a little bit of cheese to finish it off.

I think I've definitely produced the poshest potatoes possible.

I've still got enough for everyone

and they're definitely the best dressed potatoes in Hollywood.

While I clean up, the others are defying gravity and learning to fly.

These harnesses are used in loads of action films.

This is what I've dreamed of doing since I was like

a little kid watching Spider-Man cartoons.

When you land, I want you to bend your knees

-and punch the floor.

-OK.

Three, two, one, go!

Good landing. Nice!

Jack's like an X-man We should call him Jackerine.

Three, two, one, go!

Yes!

I felt like Wonder Woman. It was really cool.

And the finale of stunt school is making their own action movie,

which will be premiered later

and I'm sure it'll be worth some kind of award.

Everyone deserves an Oscar in this house.

There's always some drama or other,

so everyone's going to love these.

I call them, the Matildas.

They're my special biscuit awards.

First, get your shortbread pastry.

I made this by just whipping up some butter and sugar

and then adding in some flour.

Roll it out and cut out your shapes.

These are my special Matilda Award cutters.

Every award has a special statuette

but mine is just a little, fat man for the Matildas.

Put your shapes on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

There we go.

Pop them in the oven for...

On the other side of LA,

the filming of the Ramsay action movie has wrapped,

and Jack thinks he's found his calling.

Hopefully today was the start of a stunt career.

Well, we'll soon see

at the premiere of the Ramsay action movie later.

To win a Matilda Award

is the best thing ever,

so they've got to be dressed up for the ceremony.

This is just some melted chocolate,

it's what I'm going to use to sprinkle over them.

I'm making a zigzag pattern,

it just makes them look really nice.

Now to make my awards extra-special, and ready for the red carpet,

spraying them gold.

This is edible, it'll make them shimmer.

Wow. Shining bright.

This part is also fun. These are just little gold balls to decorate.

Great, they're done.

Ready for the award ceremony later.

My golden Matilda Awards look a-mazing.

Now it's time for my A-list film feast.

It looks so fancy and grown up,

but it was child's play to make.

How was it today?

-Oh, it was so much fun.

but I'll go get the food.

Dad couldn't come to my awards ceremony

but if he got a Matilda,

it would be for being a pretty good cook,

so I love talking to him about my food at the end of the day.

'Well, it was super salmon that was wrapped up like a present
