Episode 6 Meet the Pups

Today on Meet The Pups, at six and a half weeks old,

they will take their first trip to the vet for a health check.

What's a toy car doing parked in the pup pen?

Surely they are not going in that.

The triplets are falling over themselves to take a look.

Bonzo is the first out of the blocks. What does he make of it?

Perhaps they think it's fast food.

"Smells like a toy. Hey, Sis!"

Sister Biscuit quickly joins Bonzo.

"Those round things look chewy."

Finally, Betsy, who is usually a bit more timid than her siblings,

comes to take a look.

The toy car has one more surprise.

"It's alive."

"It's just a toy, that's weird."

"Run, run, it's a monster."

YAPS

"I don't like it, Mum, it's scary, make it go away. Make it go away."

Don't worry, Mum is here to save the day.

She soon settles the pups down.

Well done, Lola. You won't see her getting into a spin.

Anyone fancy another lap?

"Come on, let's get away from Mr Motorhead."

Hey, nice overtaking.

After today's high-octane encounter with a racing car,

the pups are pooped. After sleeping for about an hour,

they are ready for the biggest test of the day.

The travel cage.

"Hm, what's up?"

First, Biscuit is lowered into the metal cage.

Then Bonzo, then finally Betsy.

Lola and Morgan see the pups safely into the car.

They seem more worried than the pups, who are loving it.

Lola. Wait there.

Morgan, wait. Lola.

Morgan, wait.

"I'm not worried, I'm just making sure

"they put them in the car properly. Morgan, Morgan. Are you coming?"

"I think I'll stay here and I'll guard the house."

It's not too far to the vet's, but it seems like a very long journey.

"She's getting on my tail."

"For the love of dog."

Ah, thank goodness, at last the pups are nice and relaxed.

The pups are unsure what to make of the new place.

The vet's surgery is filled with new smells, sights and sounds.

"I told you, it's a zoo."

"What's a zoo?"

"It's a place for monkeys, like you, innit?"

"I think your mum deserves a bit of retail therapy, don't you?"

"No, Mum, not fair cos I want to come shopping,

"I want to come shopping."

Just like it is for humans,

the worst thing about going to the doctor's is the waiting.

"This place is well boring, innit?"

Finally, it's the pups' turn to be seen.

With vaccinations still four weeks away,

today is just another general check-up

to see how they are developing.

Biscuit is the first to be examined.

The vet checks her ears are clean and clear of any infection.

"Hey, he's looking in my brain, he's looking in my brain!"

Betsy is next. The vet checks her teeth, her gums and her smile.

No, I'm just kidding.

Then he listens to her heart.

It's beating just fine.

"Oh, this is boring, isn't it? Can we go now?"

"Oh, get off, that thing is very cold. No, that's cold."

Finally it's Bonzo,

who needs a special set of checks because he's a boy.

"Hey, get off, get off! How long does it take to count to two?"

Well, that's good, everything is in order. Well done, Bonzo.

Back home. So did the pups learn much today?

The scary monster was just a toy car. The vet's is mostly boring.

And Betsy and Biscuit realised

that Bonzo is already pretty good at counting.

"Hey, and a lot of them snore, just like their mum."

Don't worry, Morgan, I'll buy you some earplugs.

Having a puppy is a huge, time-consuming responsibility.
