First Class Ninja Skills Nine Minute Ninja

Time to get my ninja on.

And my clothes.

That's weird.

I'll have to send that back,

but I haven't got any stamps.

I know, I'll make a human stamp.

So, I'm going to draw an oval on this cardboard,

21 centimetres high.

This is the hole I'll put my face through.

You need to make the hole as big as your face.

Measure it with a ruler.

Great.

It fits perfectly.

Now I'm going to paint that red.

Yeah.

It gets a bit messy here

so make sure you put newspaper down.

You don't want to wreck your mum and dad's favourite table.

OK, that's all done.

Now, if you are doing this at home you'll need to wait for it to dry,

but not me. I'm the Art Ninja.

There we are.

Now, stamps always have those lovely frilly bits around the edges

and I'm going to be using the inside of an old cereal box.

So, you should end up with these lovely frilly bits,

but I've only got two and I need four,

so let's make some more.

Right. I can start gluing these on now.

Up here.

I've also cut out from some card a number and a couple of letters

just to show this stamp is first-class.

Now, as a stamp, it's pretty much there

but most stamps, a little touch of royalty,

and mine's not going to be different.

So, I'm going to make myself a crown.

For the crown, I'm going to be using the same thin cereal box card.

Now, you don't want to see me painting

and watching paint dry all the time,

so let's use some more ninja skills.

Nice.

It's nice and gold now.

Very royal, but it's missing some jewels

and I've cut some shapes out of some strips of shiny paper.

You can use things like wrapping paper, sweet wrappers, foil,

anything you've got lying around that you think will work.

And I'm going to glue-stick them to the top of my crown.

Pearls on the top here.

OK. Stick it through.

And I'm going to attach it with a bit of sticky tape either side.

So, I'm going to create some grey hair by using some grey strips

of card and curling them around a pencil.

Just getting it all the way around like that.

Lovely. And you attach them to the inside here.

I've got loads of these,

so I'll get sticking.

I think that's enough now. Time to try it on.

Yeah. Fits perfectly.

I've got some paper,

some paint.

I've got a tissue. I'll need that for cleaning up.

And my old library card.

I'm going to use my library card

to make a cityscape by scraping paint along the paper.

Need quite a lot of it on there.

What's your favourite city?

Obviously.

Thin and thick buildings.

I'm just scraping the paint along using the edge of the card.

Obviously, when you do it, you can do any skyline you want.

I'm just going to keep topping up paint on the card

and turning it round to make sure I spread out the paint equally.

OK, I've got the silhouette of my cityscape done.

Do you want to see how I'm getting on?

Let's put some lights on by using a little bit of white and yellow.

I've also got some red and blue.

I'm going to use the corner rather than the whole thing.

I'm just doing quick dashes with it.

Do some strips there.

This picture is shaping up to be a kind of New York skyline.

Lots of lights on.

It's not very good for their energy bill.

OK. I'm pretty happy with that.

Add a little bit of yellow.

Just do some dashes here and there.

I'm going to put some red in there, now, as well.

Just put in little injections of colour

where there is a lot of black.

Let's go for some blue.

You can use any colour you like.

Right, I think my picture is coming together now.

Maybe this city is on, like, a river.

A little shimmer down like that.

All the lights are reflecting in the water.

Right, I think I'm there.
