0:00:480:00:50

-BOTH:

-Hello. It's us!

0:00:520:00:54

-Topsy...

-..and Tim!

0:00:540:00:56

It's our first day at school today.

0:00:580:01:01

I'm wearing my new school uniform. I love the cardigan.

0:01:100:01:14

Topsy, do you need my help with your uniform?

0:01:140:01:19

No thanks, Mummy.

0:01:190:01:21

I don't like my new school shorts.

0:01:250:01:28

Tim, would you like me to help you?

0:01:280:01:31

Oh, no, I can dress myself, Mummy. Thanks.

0:01:310:01:36

Oh, good morning, Topsy. Let me have a look at you.

0:01:430:01:46

Oh, wow, do a little turn.

0:01:460:01:48

I'm really, really, really, really excited.

0:01:500:01:55

-Oh, good, and you look wonderful in your new uniform.

-Topsy?

0:01:550:01:59

-Look at that.

-Hi, Mummy!

0:01:590:02:02

Tim, you've got your sweatshirt on back to front.

0:02:020:02:06

-Shall we turn it round?

-Yes.

-OK, let's get your arms out.

0:02:060:02:10

And twist round. Perfect, and pop them back in the sleeves again.

0:02:120:02:16

Perfect. Let's get your collar out.

0:02:160:02:20

Oh, you look the perfect schoolboy.

0:02:200:02:23

OK, breakfast time, twins. Sit down at the table for me.

0:02:230:02:26

-I'm hungry.

-So am I.

0:02:260:02:28

Here we go.

0:02:310:02:33

Actually, maybe I should do the milk today,

0:02:330:02:36

so that you don't spill any milk on your new school uniforms.

0:02:360:02:40

Thank you, Mummy.

0:02:400:02:42

PHONE BEEPS

0:02:470:02:49

-Have you got a message, Mummy?

-Yes, it's from Grandma.

0:02:510:02:56

What does it say?

0:02:570:02:59

It says, "Hello, Topsy and Tim,

0:02:590:03:01

"have a lovely day at your big school.

0:03:010:03:03

"Love you lots, both of you, and sending you a big huggle.

0:03:030:03:06

"Grandma, kiss, kiss, kiss."

0:03:060:03:08

Oh, please can we take a picture of us in our school uniforms

0:03:080:03:12

and then we send it to Grandma?

0:03:120:03:14

That is a great idea, Topsy, especially as you've been

0:03:140:03:17

so careful at keeping your uniforms clean. OK, ready?

0:03:170:03:21

-One, two, three, say "big school"! BOTH:

-Big school.

0:03:210:03:26

Lovely, thank you.

0:03:260:03:29

I think I'll send that to Dad, too.

0:03:290:03:32

Yes, send it to Dad. He'll like it.

0:03:320:03:34

Topsy and Tim, Dad's really sorry that he's had to go

0:03:340:03:37

to work early and he'll be missing walking you to school

0:03:370:03:41

on your first day. Carry on eating up, though.

0:03:410:03:44

After breakfast, we go up to the bathroom to brush our teeth.

0:03:460:03:51

-Oops! Mummy?

-Yes?

0:03:510:03:55

Oh, no, Topsy, not on your new uniform. Oh, dear.

0:03:550:04:01

-At least it's only a little bit of toothpaste.

-You're right.

0:04:010:04:05

It could have been much worse. Let's get that off.

0:04:050:04:09

It's coming off fine. There we go.

0:04:110:04:14

-Oh, Mummy, look!

-Oh, Tim.

0:04:160:04:19

-That's a really big bit.

-That's much worse.

0:04:200:04:25

-Here's your last shoe, Topsy.

-Thanks, Mummy.

0:04:250:04:28

It's nearly time to go.

0:04:280:04:30

I love my new school shoes.

0:04:300:04:32

-I love my new book bag.

-Me too. I'll race you to the bags.

0:04:350:04:40

-I win.

-Oh.

-Well done. Perfect.

0:04:410:04:46

-I'm ready for school.

-Who's that?

0:04:460:04:49

-What's that?

-Dad!

-Dad!

0:04:490:04:53

I made it in time.

0:04:530:04:55

I couldn't miss your first day at school, could I, Topsy and Tim?

0:04:550:05:00

Thank you, Dad.

0:05:000:05:02

And when Mummy sent me your photo, you looked so smart

0:05:020:05:06

in your school uniforms, I dashed back home from work.

0:05:060:05:10

-Thank you, Dad.

-Thank you, Dad.

-You're welcome.

0:05:100:05:14

Come on then, let's all go to school together.

0:05:150:05:19

-Are you ready, Topsy and Tim?

-Yes!

0:05:190:05:21

Topsy, I'm feeling a little bit funny in my tummy.

0:05:220:05:26

-But Tim, we've got that promise to keep, remember?

-Oh, yes!

0:05:260:05:31

-I'm excited about our promise.

-Come on then, off we go.

0:05:310:05:35

'We promised our friend, Mr Rosen, that we'll wave to him

0:05:350:05:39

'every day on our walk to school.

0:05:390:05:41

'Now we're off to keep our promise.'

0:05:410:05:43

-Hello.

-Bye, Topsy and Tim.

-Enjoy your first day at school.

0:05:430:05:47

-Thank you.

-Thank you, we will.

0:05:470:05:50

Hi, Topsy and Tim. Aren't you riding your bike to school?

0:05:500:05:54

No, we're walking.

0:05:540:05:55

So we can wave to our friend, Mr Rosen, on the footbridge.

0:05:550:05:59

-We promised.

-OK.

-See you at school, Josie.

0:05:590:06:05

This is it. We're on our way to big school.

0:06:080:06:11

22, 23, 24...

0:06:140:06:16

'We count the steps up to the top of the footbridge.'

0:06:160:06:20

-ALL:

-26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32!

0:06:200:06:26

'And we watch a train going underneath.'

0:06:280:06:30

-Look, look at that one.

-Wow.

0:06:300:06:33

Look at all the carriages.

0:06:350:06:37

Then, we point out Mr Rosen's window to Dad.

0:06:390:06:43

That's his window, look, there, Dad.

0:06:430:06:45

He's not there. Do you think he's forgotten about our promise?

0:06:470:06:53

Well, maybe Mr Rosen hasn't got out of bed yet.

0:06:530:06:57

-But he promised.

-Mr Rosen did promise.

0:06:580:07:03

He is there. Look!

0:07:050:07:07

Look, he's there! Hello, Mr Rosen.

0:07:090:07:13

Hello, Mr Rosen.

0:07:130:07:15

Mr Rosen isn't in his wheelchair any more.

0:07:180:07:21

Look, he's doing a dance around.

0:07:210:07:24

-I'm ready to go to school now.

-So am I.

0:07:290:07:32

When we get to the school gate, we see lots of children.

0:07:380:07:42

Some of our friends from nursery are there.

0:07:420:07:46

-Hello, Andy Anderson.

-Hi, Topsy.

0:07:500:07:55

-Oh, I love your school uniform.

-I love yours too.

0:07:550:07:58

-We already have lots of friends at our new school.

-Hi, Kerry.

0:07:590:08:06

Welcome, everyone.

0:08:060:08:08

Now, once I ring this bell, I would like you to say goodbye to

0:08:080:08:11

whoever brought you to school today and walk nicely into the classroom.

0:08:110:08:16

It's time to begin your first day at Hatcham Primary School.

0:08:160:08:20

-Are we all ready? ALL:

-Yes.

0:08:200:08:22

-Yes!

-Dad!

0:08:220:08:26

-Love you.

-Have a lovely day.

-Be good for Miss Terry.

-We will.

0:08:290:08:34

-I'll miss you today, Mummy.

-Bye, Daddy.

0:08:360:08:41

Bye, Mummy.

0:08:410:08:42

Now, listen, Dad and I will be waiting here, Topsy and Tim,

0:08:440:08:48

for the end of the school day.

0:08:480:08:50

We want to hear all about it.

0:08:500:08:52

Go on, have fun at big school

0:08:520:08:54

my twin-tastic Topsy and twin-tabulous Tim.

0:08:540:08:57

BOTH: We will.

0:08:570:08:59

-I love you, Mummy.

-Love you, Mummy, love you, Dad.

0:08:590:09:02

Love you both, too.

-Hello.

-Are you good at remembering?

0:09:240:09:28

Can you remember what happened to us today?

0:09:280:09:31

This is our Topsy and Tim memory game. Let's play.

0:09:310:09:35

Today was our first day at big school.

0:09:380:09:41

Can you remember the colour of our new school book bags?

0:09:410:09:45

-Were they blue?

-Or were they red?

0:09:480:09:52

The answer is behind the jigsaw pieces.

0:09:550:09:58

Look, the answer is blue.

0:10:010:10:03

Watch this.

0:10:060:10:08

-Here's your last shoe, Topsy.

-It's nearly time to go.

0:10:250:10:31

Great game.

0:10:520:10:56

It's the morning of Topsy and Tim's first day at school. Topsy is excited but Tim has a funny tummy. Tim feels better when Topsy reminds him that they have a fun promise to keep: they must wave to Mr Rosen from the railway bridge on their journey to school.

As the children get ready to leave the house, Topsy and Tim receive an unexpected surprise, and when they arrive at the school gates, lots of their friends are there, ready to share a very special day.
