-electromagnetic energy...

-..when there are spirits around.

-It can be very cold too.

-There's a lot of people here.

-There's the Grey lady of Margam.

-This little dog was owned

-by a little girl in Llanfachreth.

-The girl was treated terribly

-and murdered.

-The landowner killed her.

-He was never prosecuted

-for the crime...

-of this little girl.

-The cleaner has seen the spirit.

-It is meant to be an

-..and it's for a stone on a roadside

-in the middle of the country.

-A similar stone has stood

-on this spot for many centuries...

-..to mark the meeting of three

-parishes and three cantreds.

-It's apt that tonight's story

-features three sections.

-The stone at Carn Twrne marks

-the spot where three parishes meet.

-They are St Dogmaels,

-Ambleston and Little Newcastle.

-Three of the county's hundreds

-meet here too.

-They are Cemaes,

-Dewisland and Daugleddau.

-The stone also marked the boundaries

-of the land that belonged to...

-..the Bishop of St David's...

-..Lord Cemaes, who's headquarters

-was in Newport, Pembrokeshire...

-..and the Earl of Pembroke.

-It's a historic symbol

-in a historic area.

-It's the home of the

-Sealyham Terrier, Black Bart...

-..and the churches of St Dogwells,

-Ambleston and Little Newcastle.

-It's been home to Richard Davies'

-family since the Elizabethan Era.

-However, the history of the stone

-dates back even further.

-There are strong connections

-between the stone and St David.

-In the Middle Ages, when the bishops

-or feudal lords went to battle...

-..the relics of St David

-were placed under the stone.

-The Bishop would continue but the

-relics returned to the cathedral.

-It's apt that the lapidarium in

-St Davids is home to the old stone.

-Some of the stones

-date back to the Seventh Century...

-..the same era as St David.

-There are also pillars from

-old churches and boundary stones.

-The church's history

-is included within these stones.

-It's been a honour to welcome

-this stone to the lapidarium.

-It's a milestone that shows

-the boundary of the Bishop's land.

-People would come to St Davids

-on pilgrimages.

-Three pilgrimage to St Davids...

-..was worth one to Jerusalem

-and two visits to Rome.

-Next, we went on a pilgrimage

-to see one of the area's crafters.

-Malcolm Grey made the new stone and

-he's done justice to its history.

-It was hard to decipher the words

-as some letters had disappeared.

-You couldn't read the worn lettering

-and it was a different language too.

-There's reference to Dewisland

-but on the stone, it's Dewsland.

-It was vital to ensure

-that every detail right.

-You can now drive past

-the new stone...

-..and know that you've contributed

-to the area's history.

-I hope everyone will be happy

-with the job I've done...

-..as it should be in place

-for 500 years or more.

-The stone looks wonderful

-in its new home.

-Malcolm is hoping that

-the stone survives for 500 years.

-Richard's family has lived

-in the area for about 500 years.

-lantern parade is in its third year.

-The event is a chance for people

-to welcome the new season.

-People from all over the county

-come to celebrate the autumn.

-Over the past month, Maenclochog,

-Narberth and Haverfordwest...

-..have all hosted lantern-making

-workshops for local people.

-We've made 400 or 500 lanterns in

-the shape of pyramids or houses.

-We have some giant lanterns

-of the buildings in Haverfordwest.

-It's a chance to bring

-the town's history to life.

-We have a lot of new attractions

-including two giant lanterns...

-..of William Owen and Joan Cheat.

-William Owen is one

-of the town's former mayors...

-..who played a key role

-in building the town.

-Joan Cheat worked as a nurse

-during the Plague.

-Local businesses have joined forces

-to create lanterns of their shops...

-..and other landmarks like William

-Owen's bridge and Shire Hall...

-..and a lot

-of other familiar buildings.

-We want people to remember

-our history and look to the future.

-The history of Haverfordwest

-is alive and well.

-I'm now joined by Myfanwy Lewis.

-You've returned to the area and

-it's your first time at the event.

-It's a pleasure to be here

-because the atmosphere is electric.

-spirits and lanterns.
