-Today's theme is asparagus.

-Asparagus is in season

-from late April until June.

-Asparagus is a vegetable.

-Asparagus doesn't need

-a lot of preparation.

-Grab the leg of the asparagus

-and feel for the soft area.

-Snap it off!

-There are different ways

-of cooking it.

-I've got a frying pan

-and some water to poach it.

-Keep the tips out of the water.

-You just want them to steam.

-They are delicate.

-You can also buy a device

-that cooks asparagus.

-You place the tough part

-at the bottom to cook.

-The tips will steam.

-Asparagus is usually

-quite expensive.

-Asparagus are everywhere

-in the shops now.

-They come in six to eight bunches.

-The most traditional way to eat it

-is with Hollandaise sauce.

-You need 50 grams

-of softened butter.

-Take 25 grams of curly-leaf parsley.

-You can smell the parsley.

-You want to remove the stems

-of the parsley.

-Use the zest of one lemon.

-Season it with some salt and pepper.

-It's got a fresh taste.

-Give it a mix.

-You can chill it in the fridge.

-Place pieces across the asparagus

-whilst it's warm.

-Leave it to melt naturally.

-What is the secret ingredient?

-You would usually drink

-I have 150g of salted butter.

-I'm also using

-100g of dark chocolate...

-..and 180g of sugar

-with 150ml of Merlyn liqueur.

-Merlyn is a Welsh cream liqueur.

-It's made from Welsh malt

-and pure fresh dairy cream.

-You need put

-all of the ingredients in a bowl.

-This is one of the easiest cakes

-you can make.

-This is a smooth chocolate cake.

-I'm going to add

-three large beaten eggs.

-This cake will last.

-You can do it

-and last until next week.

-It is good to know

-that it will last.

-The Merlyn is a help in this cake.

-You can sample the Merlyn

-if you like.

-You should drink it with some ice.

-I'm not a fan of liqueurs.

-I like it in the winter.

-I'm going to add 175g of plain flour

-and 2 tablespoons of baking powder.

-You can add some self-raising flour

-to keep the air in the mixture.
