-Halloween falls on Tuesday.

-What's on the menu, Nerys?

-I'm making meatballs

-with fiery tomatoes.

-It'll be a spicy or bloody sauce!

-We start with 60g of breadcrumbs.

-These are soaked in 50ml of milk.

-This is how they make meatballs

-in Italy.

-This is left for a few minutes

-to absorb.

-The meatballs are made

-from pork and beef mince.

-There's 400g of pork

-and 200g of beef.

-Why have you mixed the meat?

-This helps to add more flavour.

-Pork gives you flavour

-as it has more fat.

-There's also some parsley

-and garlic.

-Season it with plenty

-of salt and pepper.

-Mix it all together.

-The only way to do that

-is to do it with your hands.

-I can't get my ring off...

-..so I'll have to use my other hand!

-It's great for stress relief!

-The children will love this.

-They can help you.

-You can make these beforehand

-and store them in the fridge...

-..before you're ready to cook them.

-You should get twelve meatballs

-from this mixture.

-They are a good size.

-You can see

-why I'm making these larger balls.

-Warm some oil in a pan.

-The meatballs

-go into the pan to cook.

-Let me wash my hands

-because I've handled raw meat.

-It's got a slight kick.

-Add 200g of self-raising flour

-to 50g of spelt.

-I've also got some ground ginger

-and baking powder.

-You're not alone in forgetting some

-of the ingredients.

-Add 100g of brown sugar.

-There's also some stem ginger.

-Add three pellets of this.

-It adds some crunch.

-The wet mixture consists of

-two large eggs, 100ml of milk...

-..and 4 tablespoons

-of sunflower oil.

-You can also use melted butter

-instead of the oil.

-Mix the wet and dry ingredients

-together.

-Mix it gently.

-Add some cooking apples

-Don't place it in a food processor.
