-Today, we're going to look at

-scarlet fever.

-Before we chat about

-scarlet fever...

-..it's important to remind people

-about the flu vaccine.

-There are only

-40% of people...

-..have taken up the offer

-of having the vaccine for free.

-Many of them

-consist of pregnant women.

-There's been an increase in the flu

-in recent weeks.

-It's the season of the flu.

-It's important to have the vaccine.

-Pregnant women can die from this.

-A school in Swansea has sent out

-letters to parents...

-..about an outbreak

-of scarlet fever.

-I had this condition

-when I was almost three.

-It was when antibiotics

-was introduced.

-I was sent to Tumble and

-stayed in an isolation hospital...

-..for three months.

-I was allowed to take my pink teddy.

-They ended up burning my teddy

-as I couldn't have the teddy back.

-Penicillin is the medication

-that will improve the condition.

-Every three years, we tend to get

-a rise in this condition.

-Many children have had this

-in the Cardiff area.

-They suffer from a high temperature

-of over 39C.

-They also develop a sore throat

-and a rash over the body.

-It travels around the body

-and behind the ears and neck.

-After a few weeks,

-the skin starts to flake off.

-This isn't the same as Meningitis.

-The rash disappears

-when you roll a glass over it.

-Scarlet fever is very dangerous.

-It can have an affect on the valves

-of the heart.

-Once you get the medication,

-it will work within 24 hours.

-For two days, you don't realize

-that you have this condition.

-After these two days,

-you will start to feel ill.

-Ensure that you wash cups and items

-around the home...

-..once one of your children

-has had scarlet fever.

-You are still be able to send

-siblings of a sufferer to school.

-The condition

-is caused by streptococcus.

-It lives on the surface of the skin

-and around the nose.

-Look out for the symptoms

-of scarlet fever.

-Children are more likely to have it.

-You can contract the condition

-twice.

-It can affect the heart

-more than once too.

-The symptoms are high temperature,

-a sore throat and a rash...

-..behind the ears

-and in creases of the skin.

-Your tongue turns grey and becomes

-painful.

-have visited Patagonia...

-..to mark 150 years since

-the Welsh landed in the country.

-One of the biggest groups to visit

-this year has to be the Urdd.

-Last month, a group of young people

-travelled to South America.

-It was a great opportunity for young

-people to learn about Patagonia.

-Eurgain Haf Wyn and Holly Evans

-took part in that trip...

-..and they join us now.

-Did you enjoy the trip?

-We had a great time.

-A lot of people wanted to go on

-the trip.

-How did you find out about the trip?

-We had to write an application form.

-Some 100 people tried

-for the trip...

-..but only 30 of us could go.

-It wasn't a free trip.

-We had to raise money for it.

-In my letter, I told the Urdd

-that my grandmother...

-..had been to Patagonia many

-years ago...

-..and I wanted to follow in her

-footsteps.

-How did you raise 2,400?

-I had a concert to raise money.

-I held a duck race.

-I raised over 800 in that raise.

-Mam-gu and Tad-cu also held

-a coffee morning.

-We also had other event.

-You both attend Ysgol y Preseli.

-The trip was wow!

-I didn't know what to expect.

-I couldn't believe it when I saw

-young children in schools...

-..and speaking Welsh

-and talking about Sali Mail.

-What is their Welsh like?

-Their Welsh was great.

-We arrived in Esquel.

-We spent five days in Trefelin.

-Following this, we went to Trelew.

-We stayed in some nice lodge cabins.

-There was a hostel in another place.

-We had to stay there for over

-a week.

-The boys did a lot of snoring!

-Did you make friends out there?

-We made friends for life.

-I'm going to stay in touch

-with everyone on the trip.

-There were people from

-all over Wales on the trip.

-You also had to perform.

-We had to do a lot of singing.

-There was a lot of concerts.

-Catrin Finch was there too.

-I'd like to go there!

-to a number of quality vineyards.

-Yvonne recently visited Jabajak

-in Llanboidy...

-..to hear of a new wine

-that has been produced in Wales.

-Today, there's as many

-as 16 vineyards in Wales.

-The latest is Jabajak, a vineyard

-in Llanboidy in Carmarthenshire...

-..that hosted the Welsh

-Vineyard Association Awards.

-Wine production is growing in Wales.

-The new vineyard helps to boost

-tourism in the area and in Wales...

-..as Jabajak has both a restaurant

-and accommodation.

-The vineyard attracts more people

-to see what Wales has to offer.

-The awards are proof

-that Welsh wine is just as good...

-..if not better than some

-of the famous wines in the world.

-New Zealand has made wine for twelve

-years and Australia for 15 years...

-..but Wales has only been making

-wine for eight years.

-It's just like Welsh rugby

-and needs constant promotion.

-As I look around, I can tell

-that this is something special.

-Despite being young, Jabajak's

-white wine called The White House...

-..was awarded a silver award

-but where did it get its name?

-The third President of America,

-John Adams...

-..was the grandson of the man

-who lived at Jabajak.

-I think John Adams

-named the White House after Jabajak!

-What makes for a good wine?

-People need to enjoy it

-and that it's world-class.

-It's the first year of production

-and this is fantastic.

-It resembles a Sauvignon blanc

-from New Zealand...

-..with a hint of apricot

-and real freshness.

-It has a perfect label

-and we all enjoyed it.

-Is it difficult to have a vineyard

-in the unsettled Welsh climate?

-The weather isn't an issue

-because they get hail in France.

-It takes work but they are only

-grapes at the end of the day.

-They grow if you have quality soil

-and the end result is fantastic.

-The success of the new vineyards

-in Wales...

-..such as Jabajak,

-Llaethliw and Pant Du...

-..it's obvious that the industry

-is maturing.

-People are more interested in wine

-and enjoy a glass with a meal.

-It's great to have

-so many new vineyards in Wales.

-The business of quenching

-your thirst is thriving!

-I think a lot of that wine

-will be drunk of Christmas.

-I had the flu jab this morning.
