-Why did you establish the fund?

-We would always donate money

-to various charities.

-We never knew

-how that money was spent.

-Therefore, we decided to establish

-our own charitable fund.

-It can be difficult to choose

-our beneficiaries.

-We have three trustees to help

-choose who gets the money.

-We discuss thoroughly

-before making a decision.

-They all have their favourite

-charities and causes.

-It's difficult to turn some

-claims down.

-Over 20 charities in Wales

-have benefitted.

-We're very proud

-of what we've achieved.

-It's great to see

-how our money is being spent.

-We have plans for the future.

-We hope to invest more money into

-the fund in order to donate more.

-Menna is from

-the Alzheimer's Association.

-What does the money mean to you?

-The timing of the fund

-has been perfect for us.

-Alzheimer's Society Cymru...

-..wants people

-to unite against dementia.

-We were faced with

-closing one of our centres.

-However, we met Nolan

-at the perfect time.

-Alzheimer's Society Cymru

-received 2,500...

-..to help relocate their Ty Perthyn

-Day Care Support Service.

-Nolan paid for all the alterations

-needed to the new building.

-It's been fantastic.

-It's also a period of a lot of cuts.

-There are always talks of cuts

-so Nolan came to the rescue.

-We're uniting against together

-against dementia.

-Bev is from Canolfan Elfed.

-Tell us more about the centre.

-Canolfan Elfed is a special unit

-at QE High school in Carmarthen.

-We have pupils with lots

-of different needs.

-I work in the unite.

-We're grateful to Nolan

-for his support.

-He's given us funding to buy

-new equipment.

-Kelly, the children must be

-delighted with the funding.

-The money has allowed

-our pupils to learn and grow.

-We'll be able to buy

-an interactive mat.

-Some of our pupils can't use

-an iPad so the mat will be great.

-I work on a children's ward

-at Glangwili.

-I help the children during playing.

-I make them feel comfortable

-during their hospital stay.

-Nolan's money will help us

-purchase iPads.

-They will keep children

-..and educate them

-about their treatments.

-They'll be able to see what will

-happen to them during treatments.

-Nolan, all these donations

-have made such a difference.

-I've been pregnant twice

-so I have plenty of advice.

-We've got a few images of celebs

-This is how you shouldn't dress

-when pregnant.

-There's an overload of

-floral pattern!

-She looks much bigger

-than she actually is.

-Her sister, Kourtney

-has nailed the look.

-She shows off her bump.

-A bump will be shown

-whatever you wear.

-Some people don't want

-to show off their bump.

-However, I wanted to show mine off.

-I hid my bump more

-during my first pregnancy.

-Is there a lot more choice

-in maternity wear these days?

-There are lots of high street

-retailers with pregnancy ranges.

-However,

-you may have to order online.

-Tanya is 22 weeks pregnant.

-when you are pregnant?

-There's normally a rule to not wear

-horizontal stripes...

-..as it makes you look wider.

-However, every rule goes out the

-window when you're pregnant.

-What's your experience

-of buying clothes?

-It's difficult to shop

-for maternity clothes locally.

-I found it easier to dress

-in the winter.

-from wood, paper, metal or fabric?

-Do you struggle storing, cleaning

-and caring for these objects?

-Do you often see valuable items that

-have been destroyed to negligence?

-Yes, I have.

-It's such a pity.

-I've seen antique throws

-covered in holes.

-It's been destroyed.

-It can be too late at this point.

-You should wash a Welsh throw.

-They are quite expensive.

-There are several ways

-to clean a throw.

-Some suggest a dry cleaners

-that can cost from 30 upwards.

-You can wash it at home

-but if you don't feel confident...

-..take it to the dry cleaners.

-Place it in a bowl of tepid water.

-Give it a rinse.

-Make sure the water is cold

-and not warm.

-You can spin it

-and dry them outside.

-Hang it over a hedge in the garden.

-Place the throw in a cold place

-in the house.

-You can also treat it with some

-anti-moth and cover them in bags.

-We move on to metals now.

-You can use Brasso

-or a product with petrol in it.

-You can also use bicarbonate of soda

-and some water at home.

-I tried this the other day.

-Take a look at the difference.

-The results are fantastic.

-You can use baking soda

-and lemon to clean your metals.

-With copper, you need to be careful.

-Some are silver or copper-plated.

-You can rub it with lemon and salt.

-Rinse it and wash it off.

-We move on to glassware now.

-Wash them in warm water.

-Give them a soak

-and clean with a soft brush.

-Dry them with a hairdryer.

-You can also do the same

-with glassware.

-Don't place them in the dishwater.

-Seal them in bubble wrap.

-You can treat wooden items

-and wax them.

-abuse cases during recent years.

-Therefore, the RSPCA is launching

-a campaign to start a register...

-..to record those convicted

-of animal abuse and neglect.

-Meleri Tweed joins us

-to discuss this new campaign.

-Welcome to Meleri and her dog, Chip.

-Thank you.

-Tell us more about this register.

-There are many reasons

-for this register.

-The RSPCA are campaigning

-for a register of offenders.

-The register would enable us to

-check if prospective pet owners...

-..have been convicted or banned

-from owning or keeping animals.

-A register doesn't

-exist for breeders...

-..and the RSPCA at the moment.

-Why doesn't the current system work?

-An Animal Offenders Register

-would list persons convicted...

-..under the Animal Welfare Act and

-who've got a disqualification order.

-It makes it more difficult

-for owners to re-offend.

-Animal cruelty is on the rise and

-more people are being prosecuted.

-We don't know why there is a rise.

-More people are reporting

-acts of cruelty.

-Animals need a lot of care.

-A lot of it is to do with owners

-not understanding...

-..how to look after a pet.

-Any cruelty needs to be reported

-to the Police.

-You've given Chip a good home.

-Before Chip came to live with me,

-he was mistreated.

-A member of the public reported

-that Chip was being abused.

-Chip endured suffering in the past.

-Chip is such a sociable dog now.

-She does still gets scared

-with loud noises.

-Nobody raises her voice to her

-in our house.

-Where do rescue dogs go

-after being mistreated?

-Chip was brought immediately to me.

-Many animals who have been abused

-will go to animal centres.

-Shelters can be difficult

-for animals who are scared.

-What is the complaint procedure?

-The RSPCA or the Police step in

-and take action with the owners.

-The RSPCA can also provide help

-to owners.

-There's a link between animal abuse

-and domestic abuse.

-There's more information

-coming to the surface these days.

-If someone is cruel to a pet, it

-is likely they abuse a human being.

-There are charities out there

-who can help these people...

-..and solve these issues.

-Animal abuse is everywhere.

-Cruelty happens to all animals.

-It's important that we inform

-the right people if you are worried.

-There's also been talk about

-the incorrect use of breeding dogs.

-It's a tough topic.

-I don't know why people

-like these mixed breeds.

-Pugs are lovely dogs.

-There can be problems when breeding.

-We need to ensure that our pets

-don't suffer.

-You want a healthy pet.

-There are many pets

-that are cross-bred.

-Are you seeing more

-of these cross-bred dogs?

-I would advise people to consider it

-before buying a cross-bred animal.

-It's become fashionable.

-You have to consider

-the health factors and costs.

-Emerald Isle to enjoy the festival.

-The Pan Celtic Festival

-Many enjoy the competitions

-and sample the black stuff!

-It's similar to the Eisteddfod

-with familiar faces in every corner.

-My wife, Rhiannon and I come here

-to have fun and enjoy the craic.

-We're staying at

-a bed and breakfast.

-We only have the breakfast

-because we don't sleep a lot!

-The craic is fantastic here.

-The atmosphere is great.

-It's wonderful to bring all of

-the Celtic nations together.

-There are all sorts of activities

-and the evenings are entertaining.

-We enjoy afternoons in the pub

-and there's a lot on offer here.

-I haven't been to the festival

-for several decades.

-The atmosphere

-and organization has evolved.

-Each country takes its turn

-to showcase their talent...

-There's many Welsh people here so

-One of the main competitions

-is composing a new Celtic song.

-In Wales, Can i Gymru is shown

-on our television screens...

-..but not in the other countries.

-Our winner was looking forward

-to perform in front of this crowd.

-It's totally different here.

-Can i Gymru was shown live on S4C

-and it's more relaxed here.

-There's a great Welsh turnout,

-so we'll have plenty of support.

-# Set me free #

-Cadi is our representation from

-Wales and she performed brilliantly.

-Tonight, she was an accompanist for

-Bethany Celyn, Gethin Griffiths...

-..and Gwilym Bowen Rhys.

-The competition doesn't have any set

-rules and all styles can be heard.

-We mark the lyrics,

-melody and stage performance.

-It was a great competition tonight

-and Ireland were the winners.

-The winning track had a more

-blues and jazz feel.

-I judged the solo folk singing

-and it was a fantastic competition.

-Many of the Welsh excelled.

-Gwilym Bowen Rhys came first again

-and Bethany Celyn won third place.

-The Magee Brothers

-were also successful.

-Anni Llyn won an award

-for best original song.

-Gwenan Gibbard

-conducted Cor Yr Heli...

-..that came second in the ladies

-choir and open choir competitions.

-The other choirs were also

-looking forward to competing.

-Six choirs from Wales have competed

-and it's been a very exciting day.

-We're Cor Blaenporth

-Male Voice Choir from Cardigan.

-We've been here since Thursday and

-competed against talented choirs.

-Everything's going great.

-I'm here with Cor Rhuthin

-and we can't wait to compete.

-We're competing three times,

-unaccompanied and with a piano.

-It's a great competition

-and we hope to enjoy it.

-Cor Cytgan Clwyd are competing in

-the youth, open, unaccompanied...

-..and mixed choirs categories.

-Some of the lads are performing

-in the male voice choir category.

-And we hope to retain our title.

-Cor Rhiannedd y Moelwyn are

-competing here for the first time.

-We've just stepped off stage having

-sung in the open choir competition.

-Following five hours of singing,

-Tonic won Best Folk Choir.

-Cor Rhuthin also won the titles

-for best ladies and male choirs.

-Cytgan Clwyd came first

-in every other category.

-But who scooped the main

-choir of the festival award?

-The judges have enjoyed

-a feast of competing today.

-We've heard from a vast variety of

-choirs from Cerdd Dant to pop music.

-The three of us

-have thoroughly enjoyed.

-We didn't expect to come

-and win for the second time.

-The choir is fantastic.

-They listen to my instructions

-and attend every rehearsal.

-I'm becoming emotional

-but they were fantastic.

-Morwen is an important member of the

-team and a wonderful accompanist.
